I have 3 children. I have read that I must give up temp custody while in basic training...would this be to my husband or another family member?
Would I even have a chance to get a waiver for the number of children I have? I have a Bachelor's Degree and qualify to become an officer but I just need to know.......do I have a chance for a waiver?

You are on the right track but I do not think it is the right thing to do.

You may require a waiver due the amount of dependents you have. If so, that waiver could take up to a month to come back.

As for the custody issue, you are married, you will not have to give up custody. It is taken for granted that your husband will be taking care of the children while you are in basic.

I don't know how the officer recruitment for the USAF works, but there should be some program in place for you. Check with the local recruiter.

Good luck, and thanks for your decision.

I was in the air force and had to get waivers to go in. If you do have to get a waiver you might have to write a letter usually to your recruiter's commander. Just make sure it is well written along with your intentions and how you feel you would be an asset to the military in addition to how you will feel it is an honor to join the military.
Don't worry about having to get a waiver because of the number of kids you have because it doesn't make a difference. They only require waivers from women who had kids out of wedlock.
I was in basic training with a woman who had 5 kids.
I was also in basic training with people who had kids and left their kids in custody of their spouse or other family members. If your husband is not deployed then you can leave them with him. I worked with people who both them and their spouse was in the military and when they deployed they left their kids with their military spouse.

It is possible...Yes you would have to give custody to your husband. Personally I think its stupid cause all the recruiters really did is find a loop hole in the system. The reason behind the whole thing is cause as you know lower enlisted do not get paid to support a family that size.

The only problem you may run into is the fact that the AF is really taking anyone right now. They are going through a force shaping and trying to get rid of a lot of enlisted and officers. I felt the effects of that myself when they told me cross train or get out. Seeing how I didnt want to cross train into the 4 jobs they said were open I went blue to green and am now in the Army....

Yes. You have a chance to make the trip.

Any hang up would be concerned with how the children are handled. The services don't want loose children dumped in their laps.
