you can take a dog for a walk, he'll bark if someone tries to come in your house, teach them tricks... a parrot or budgie can learn to talk. etc, but cats well all they do is moon about and do what they want to, eat and crap, won't come when you call them, wont do tricks, and they wont stop a burglar...useless, yes or no?

Yes cats are a waste of space as well as a public nuisance. They do taste quite nice though, I once ate cat curry when I was in Singapore.

Some folks are dog people and some are cat people
It's a fallacy that cats cannot be taught tricks or be trained. My cats are trained from infancy to respond to vocal tones and the simple word "no" and do not claw the furniture, or get on the kitchen counters (at least when I'm home lol), or eat the plants.
My husband is a dog guy, but he loves the feeling of being in charge over his dogs and the fawning ways of dogs appeal to him. I just prefer the more discerning nature of the cat in general. You can own a dog, but you never own a cat - they own you. By the way, he felt the same way you do about cats when we met. He even pretended to be allergic in the hopes I would get rid of them before we got married lol. After a couple of years of being around them he marvels often at their ingenuity and intelligence and he gets a huge kick out of watching their social interaction and the way they play with each other and with him. Though he continues to prefer dogs he has told me he'll never be without a cat again.

No, I think fish are the most useless pets.
Cats, if you couldn't teach your cat to come when you call and do things to please you, then you are not worthy to own a cat. Mine does just great, thank you - and I have no time at all for walks, with 10 to 15 hours at work; a dog would be a burden in my present case (I love dogs in general and if I worked less, or did not live all alone, I would love to have a dog too). And parrots I find rather annoying, in terms of tone of sounds... A cat is great for me.

CATS are no longer pointless. They stay lots longer than canines, are swish and eye-catching, and curious. they grant remarkable slumbering companions, and are great for individuals who % to "chillax." How are canines going for a walk useful? I admit barking is useful if there are burglars, yet cats are incredibly time-commemorated for sensing the mystical. so some distance as tricks, do you certainly need some thing to act like your slave? Or might you quite some thing have this is very own thoughts. what's using parrots speaking? And what the hell is etc? Cats are unswerving, on occasion. some cats come once you call them, and a few cats do tricks. And there are multiple issues that isn't stop a burglar. Cats have personalities in basic terms like we do, and a few cats are dumb, in basic terms such as you're.

Have you seen any outbreaks of the bubonic or black plague lately? Cats were considered to be evil until it was discovered that the rats in the grain supply houses in Europe were what was causing the rapid spread of the plague. People suddenly realized that the few cats that were around were killing the rats. It was quickly spread that to kill a cat was against the law. Within a few months the number of cats increased, the number of rodents decreased and people were not getting sick. Once the plague was under control through many measures it was deemed important to keep cats around to prevent the rodent population from getting out of hand ever again. That in itself makes them useful creatures. I have a cat that hunts a 6 block radius keeping rats, moles, voles, and mice of any kind down to a bare minimum. Before she came several camp trailers here had major rodent infestations. Way to go Cricket.

cats are great for rodent control - mice.. in fact they stopped the plauge by killing a lot of rats which were spreading disease...
and YES cats have stopped burglars.. soem can be taught how to do tricks, and some walk very well on a leash (I have one that rides horses)
parrots and budgies dont infact learn to talk.. they just mimic sounds they hear.. this is not actually talking
my cats do come when called and know their names... each comes to its name only and not the other.. (well ok unless food is involved then they both come)

Yes, cats are the most pointless and useless pets ever. Regardless of how many no-life retards get on the internet and crow about "cats have staff" and other illogical bullshit.

I get the point, most cats are more ornamental than anything, but that's exactly what a lot of people want.
They easy on the eye, uncomplicated and undemanding.
They're totally guilt free. They allow people to be lazy by taking themselves for walks, they bury their own poop and clean and groom themselves, and I'd say all the above were pretty neat tricks compared to being with a dumb dog.
But, my cat does do tricks, we can play fetch with a ball, he comes when called and has enough discipline not to cross the line between the hall and the kitchen. I'd like to see a burglar try to take any one of his toys....
But seriously
When I collapsed in our hall through stress -my mother had died - my cat was right there for me. He brought me his catnip mouse and put it right under my nose (god knows what they put in it - but it works) and went and screamed at my partner until he followed him to were I was.
You've obviously never met the right cat. Get yourself a Maine Coon and treat him like he's intelligent.

You really don't have a clue do you? They just eat and crap, they sleep play with you, cuddle up to you. They come when I call them if I can't see them in the garden. My cats are clever, they know what time I get up.
You also hear more dogs attacking childen and then getting put down

You must have never had a cat. My cats almost always come when called. One of my cats knew to jump up into my arms when I patted my chest. Both of them are very affectionate. I think the reason some people don't like cats is because they don't understand how to relate to them. If you give cats respect and don't try to control them, you will get respect and affection from them.

Cats are too dignified to do "tricks." If you want to prance around doing "tricks" with your dog, be my guest.
Cats are self cleaning and smell good. Dogs stink 17 minutes after a bath.
Cats are relatively non-aggressive. If you want gore, watch a pit bull ripping a child to pieces. Then he will protect your home too, for the price of a meal.
Cats enjoy their lives. They love good food, good play, and good cuddling. You will never, ever enjoy your life the way a cat does.
Cats have quiet time, which you define as mooning around. What a frenetic, irritating, useless person you must be.
Cats respond to love and give it back. They are too good for you. Do them a favor and stay away from them.
Birds are food.
