Can anyone in the U.K. find out how much it would cost for a 2.5 five cylinder diesel engine and the shipping to the U.S. It is for a VW eurovan.

Is this for a reto-fit situation? If so, fugit-ah-bout it. DOT/customs will likely seize the engine at port of entry. Here's a thought if you are insistant -- this engine may be OK in Canada....(hummmm?)

Call me mad, but I think you're confusing engines.

They have a 1.9, 2.0 and 3.0 TDI in 4 and 6 cylinders.
And a 2.5L 5-cylinder petrol, like ours.

There is no 2.5 TDI - so you may have other issues.

That is, unless you're talking about an older engine.

It seems to me I read that all of the newer engines in VW's have matching bolt patterns - so, if you could get ahold of a new 1.9, and get it approved in Canada (we don't have as strict laws as you do), then import it into the states, you're solid.

I currently own a 2005 TDI New Beetle. Can't help you one where or how to get one but I just seen this answer and had to respond. It is silver, called reflex silver, and I know everyone at the gas pumps thinks I am psycho because if I had a dollar for everytime someone asked me "Are you sure that takes diesel" I would be rich! I am not stupid but they make me feel that they think I am. I get about 45 mpg and I am helping the environment because diesel burns cleaner, but not it is more expensive than gas! Oh well, I guess thats life huh?

i dont think thats going to be too possible. That motor has never been US DOT legalized because its never been in any car in the US, so i dont htink youre gonna be able to do it.

in response to cocos: Hybrids use quite a bit more than double the energy cost per mile (including the manufacturing energy, battery disposal energy, etc etc) than the VW diesels do. They also get worse gas mileage (despite what the EPA says, realistic studies differ greatly). Hybrids are a joke compared to diesels.

I even have pushed the two the non quicker diesel and the quicker diesel of the technology only before the TDI insignia. and what I even have discovered is....the non quicker wager greater helpful gasoline economic gadget than quicker . That in basic terms is clever thinking the quicker has greater potential. yet there is greater aspects to placed on out(the quicker) that's pricy. i like the quicker, yet I do hardship approximately considerable breakdown and what do I do then form of element. I drove seven hundred,000 miles on my non quicker unit. I hav'nt had the quicker that long yet 360,000 although this is leaking oil tremendously solid. So if it holds an identical(and in all likelihood does) the greater moderen TDI's will do an identical.
