Well, it is not normal, but if you are single then I think it is simply your choice. If you are married or have a partner, it could cause problems. It is a comfort measure that you have a habit of doing, it helps you to relax and withdraw from the hectic world. Everyone has they're own way of doing that, some use drugs, some use alcohol, some have a stuffed animal, sometimes you don't outgrow what helps you to feel comfort. Also, your habit is not harming anyone or you, so keep on a suckin'.

Hard to say what is "normal", it all depends on what you feel comfortable with. If you are fine with the thumb sucking, then there should be no real problems (except maybe crooked teeth). If it is something you would like to stop you might want to try applying a bitter tasting liquid on the thumb that will make it unpleasant. Try:(http://www.folica.com/MAVALA_Stop_for_r442_1.html)

You still suck your thumb and your asking us for advice? Hmmm... lets see...in most cases no its not normal...maybe you should just wear gloves at night or whenever you feel like you want to put your thumb in your mouth or another way is putting that no chew nail polish on your thumb nail. It tastes really gross so maybe that way it would help you stop.

actually, whatever your name is sorry for saying that, but if your a small baby, its okay. but if your sucking your thumb until you are 21, that is really not normal. it could jam your teeth and when you go see the dentist when your like lets say 30 years old, they are probaly going to say, can you move your thumb? they are goin to say this because your so used to sucking it. and the dentist is going to say what happened to your teeth, because they are so jamed!! not to hurt you, but sucking your thumb is very, i mean very unheathy!! so try not to suck your thumb now. im giving you the best advice as i could, but at least i tryed! lol so try your best not to suck you finger!! lol. well, my name is raychelle (rae-shell) is how you pronounce it. and im glad i answered your question! i hope your glad that i helped you! have a good evening! ask another question and i'll try to find you, and i'll help you again!

later!

My sister used to do that when she was younger she stopped around 17. It's a habit that you develop, for example some people have a habit of biting there nails. It could be that you are nervous, stressed, or anxiety. It could be your teeth, are there straight, bucked, or crooked?
