Some cats do "love bite".... it's not a hard bite and although it might hurt a little they don't mean to hurt you.
If your cat is drawing blood, you may have other issues.
Join a cat forum and chat there, where people can discuss the problem with you.

If you do join a cat forum and chat there (lots of very informed people who can help!!!) make sure to add things like if your cat is male/female, how old it is and if they have been fixed or not :-)
Good luck!

Is your cat a male? I had a male cat several years ago, and he started biting for no apparent reason when he was being pet, or sometimes he would just come up and bite you. I took him to the vet and found out that he had a really bad urinary tract infection, and the vet said that petting him might irritate him, because of the infection. He also said sometimes male cats just do that. Well after the infection was gone, he still continued to bite. Be careful. Cat bites can be very dangerous.

This may sound strange, but cats are naturally predators...When he starts to bite you, if you pet him or when you walk up to him, this is how a cat may treat its prey, and is instinctive, whether he is playing or serious....
Another theory is, one minute the cat is sitting calm and relaxed and content, the next, he lashes out with its claws, or bites the stroking hand, and flees into a corner. It is thought that this behavior respresents a sudden change in how the cat perceives its situation of being stroked, from one of security to one of threat.
Cats are very mysterious creatures, whenever he does that, gently but firmly tell him no, he will eventually understand.

Cats bite to compensate for not being able to verbally communicate. Either the cat wants attention different than you are giving it or, the cat may just want to be left alone. Also, cats mark you as their territory with their saliva. Either way...your cat is definately trying to tell you something.

I once had a cat that bit me and drew blood. I immediately chased him throughout the house until I caught him and whopped him, once ,hard enough that he got the message. From then on he would come up to me and take my finger in his mouth and slowly start biting until I tapped him on the head and then he would stop, curl up on my chest or lap, start purring and go to sleep. He was saying he was sorry but that he was still a cat. This continued for the rest of his life. We were best friends.

if your cat bites you when you are petting him/her its their way of telling you they are overstimulated... try to pet you cat for shorter periods of time... or just put up with it, they don't mean you harm.. just trying to express their feelings
