If they were in a nice home, but the family had to move country, do dogs still remember their previous owners after a few months if they came back to visit?

Yes! Assuming the dog was old enough and with the family long enough to form a bond, they will not forget their 'old' family for quite some time if ever! I have placed rescue dogs that I had for only a few months that years later still remember me. Dogs are loyal creatures and have incredible memories; it's what makes them so unique and trainable! Some dogs have been known to actually grieve or mourn for a family it has been taken away from.

Yes. Of course they will remember for a much longer time than a few months unless they were only 6 weeks or 8 weeks old when they left and still they would probably remember them after a few months. Dogs are much smarter than people give them credit for.

I don't know about all dogs, but I raise Chihuahuas and I keep in touch with the new owners. I have visited my old babies as much as 6 months later and they would still remember me.
Some of them I see every 4 or 5 months and they always remember me.

My dog, Sassy had not seen my mom in over 2 years, and remembered her instantly upon seeing her one day.
Their sense of smell is very good, that's how dogs tell eachother from one another, and that's how they tell us apart from other people. So there's a very good chance that yes, the dog could very well remember the previous owner.

Many do however some don't. I have had experiences both ways. My eldest son moved out on his own (woo hoo! Yee Ha!, Ooops sorry lol) and when he came to visit at Christmas, my Great Dane tried to eat him! Did not recognize him at all. But my Newfoundland, knew him and was loving him to death. Ya never know.
