It doesn't really hurt to get a root canal. They will use novacaine to numb the tooth. I've had 4 root canals, they are not bad. Also, braces don't really hurt to get them put on, when they adjust them, you will often find your teeth and mouth sore for a few days. (Plan on a soft diet for a couple of days) And the wires sometimes will cut into your cheek or lips especially while you are sleeping, but your orthodontist will give you wax to apply to any spots that are giving you trouble. Hope this helps...been through it all myself...and your beautiful smile afterward makes it all worthwhile!

The root canal didn't hurt for me. They numb you up really well and then you can't feel a thing. There was no after pain either for me however my dentist did give me vikodin just in case. I have not had braces so I can't answer you there! I hope this helps a bit.

I had braces in my teens. I remember that getting them in it of itself did not hurt, but you are sore for a few days because your teeth start moving. Then on the monthly visit the docotr usually tightens them so you will be sore again for a couple of days... But its not a terrible pain, you'll get trhoug it...Keep thinking how wonderful your teeth will look like in a couple of years!
About the root canal...oh yeah baby, that hurts! The worst part is after the anesthesia wears off, the first 12-24 hours. Make sure you ask the docotr for good pain killers for that first day. After that, you should be ok, if there are no complications. Good luck.

root canals are pretty painful during and right after the procedure, but that pain goes away rather quickly. Braces don't hurt that day, but the next day and for a few days your mouth will ache and every time they're tightened or messed with they will cause discomfort.

Yes a oot canal is very painful and very expensive, braces hurt also but between both of them id rather take braces and pull out that tooth instead of having a root canal it is wicked pain they rip the root right out of your gums.GOOD LUCK!!

Root canals hurt. Alot. If you could, in all seriousness, get drunk before you have it done. If not, make sure you get whatever painkiller dentists use.
Braces aren't all that bad though, they hurt a little when you first get them. The most pain is social. So yeah, good luck.

Dentistry has come a long way since the 1800's. Novacaine is wonderful and you are asleep while the operation is going on . You won't feel a thing.
