TV lines are a way of expressing resolution. Your tv projects an image as a few hundred lines from top to bottom, and a few hundred lines from left to right. Same deal with your computer monitor, only there you can set the resolution yourself (800x600, or 1024x768 for example). If you set your screen resolution to 1600x1200 lines, you'll see almost 2 million individual pixels, or 2 mega-pixels.
With digital cameras, the image is also built up in lines, but the resolution is normally expressed in mega-pixels. How many mega-pixels you want, depends on how big you want to print. For quality 5x7 inch prints, you'll want at least a 3 mega-pixel camera. For quality 8x10 inch prints, you'll want at least a 6 mega-pixel camera.

Baby Lisa looks hot but didn't answer the question.
TV images, (regular TV) are made up of about 500 horizontal lines. VHS video tape imagesare about 200 lines and you can notice the difference. Digital cameras easily produce images made up of 1000 lines or more and are therefore much better because of the higher resolution.
