And you tryed helping and talking to her but she doesn't really listen or do anything about it? Hear is the situation, say your sister is a disable person and she lives in a house that she loves but she has mouse's(or Rats) in her home, and you go there and you can see the mouse droppings on the floor, on the counters in kitchen and on the stove... and she just cleans them up when she cleans up evryday. And they live in her son's bed inside the box springs, you can see the mouse holes there! ( He is Grown not a child by age!) They seem to be really bad and you worry about her health and tell her and she has no money to do anything with, and she;s afraid to tell the landlord, and she has pets and is afraid to put down mouse posion for there sake, they might eat it and die, so what can you do or tell her to do?? when you tell her to move, she refuses!! She can't afford nothing, but she could get help being disable but she don't want an apartment, she loves her home!!

it depends on what your willing to risk. how much do you love your sister? enough to help her and your nephew and risk having her not speak to you? she might be angry for awhile, but in the end - i believe she would be grateful. love is not always easy. and sometimes you have to do what is best. the health issues here are too many to discuss. and there could be long term effects from them.

call A.P.S. (adult protective services) they will definitely send someone out to help her. they should be listed in the phone book under the county she resides in.

good luck to you and your family.

I'm not sure why her son isn't helping but she could try glue traps. She can put them in areas where the pets don't go. When I had rodent problems, I baited the traps with alcohol. Mice seem to love cheap brandy even better than peanut butter. Besides it makes them clumsy and slow so even if they manage to not get stuck on the trap, the pets should be able to catch them. Other than that just keep clean and put all food, including pet food sealed away whenever it is not being cooked or eaten.

When I started to see mice coming in the house after the bird seed, I adopted a couple of cats. No more mice. It does sound like your sister's problem is pretty out of control though. You or she needs to tell the landlord or call the Health Department or both.

You can always call her landlord for her. That's why people rent, because they don't want to worry about fixing things or maintaining things, such as this. That is their responsibility as the landlord and if they refuse to do anything, your sister can sue, or call the local news station or report them to the county health department.

I agree with the last post
A friend of mine used to have mice in his basement all the time.
He got a cat, and his problem was gone. It would kill all sort of other things too like spiders, and othe insects
