yes. it's possible to lay eggs, without mating. Like chickens.
If you can get the egg away from the mother, hold it up to a light.
If you have something that looks black in the middle of it-its fertile.
If its clear-throw it away. They'll get the hang of it. And they can be pretty nasty when they are breeding.
Good Luck

Since your bird is laying eggs, you should make sure that it has plenty of cuttlebone, and offer her a little egg meal. This will keep her healthy and full of energy. It will also prevent her from egg-binding--a condition where the hen's muscles cannot force the egg out of her body. It is painful and dangerous for your little girl (the egg can break in there!), so if she doesn't already have a cuttlebone, you can drop by Wal-Mart and pick one up for around $1.00.
If you want to stave off your bird's egg-laying, you can simulate the end of the breeding season by offering her 12 hours of complete darkness every night, like clockwork, with the fewest distracting daytime sounds that you can offer her. If the cage is small, you can even move it to a quiet bedroom ever evening, and cover it with a breathable blanket.
If there is even a chance that they are fertile, be careful how closely you hold them to the light source that you use to "candle" them. Heat can damage a chick in shell.
Good luck. It sounds like your hen is just doing what lady birds sometimes do for a little while. Don't worry.

Yes, a bird can definately lay many eggs even with no male around. What you need to do to see if they are fertile is a procedure called "candeling". Get a candle and hold the egg up to it and see if there is a brown spot inside. If there is then it is on its way to becoming a baby bird. If it is clear inside it is not fertile,,,BUT you must wait about 2-3 to find out.

Females can lay eggs when there is no boy around.. Unless they were together it is unlikely the eggs are fertile.
I would call your local vet for help to get her out of "breeding mode"

yep, they can lay eggs, that are not fertile. Hold the tiny eggs up against a flashlight and you should be able to see if it is fertile. If it is fertile, you'll be able to see the embryo. I had young hens that laid eggs, without any males in her cage.

I, my self, have 14 parakeets and know allbout them! If she hasn't been laying on them, just crack them in their food dishs (It's very good for them to eat). And it is PIRFECTLY normal for a female parakeet to lay eggs with out mating.

at first do no longer cope with it. save it heat, like in a incubator. verify on line on the time whilst the egg might desire to hatch and use the main remarkable temp. And hopeful it somewhat is fertile, yet on occasion the chick can die and you will possibly nonetheless she it. Or the suitable achieveable is to touch a vet that handles birds. the % concern be the suitable source of education.
