You are going to need to call imaging facilities in your area to check costs, as they will greatly vary even within the same town. The cost is going to depend on what body part is scanned (Sinus scan is much cheaper than an Abdomen/Pelvis), and if you need a contrast enhanced exam (contrast will add to the price). I work in an outpatient imaging facility and our town's hospital is quite a bit more expensive than us. When you call around, make sure you are getting the radiologist fee plus the technical fee. My facility has only one fee, but the hospitals typically have both. If you have insurance, you will need to go to a facility that is contracted with your insurance company. If you are private pay/non-insured, find out if the facility will give you a discount for paying cash at time of service. My facility will give a 40% discount at time of service for full payment of CT scans.

I paid about $1600 including the discount for paying the whole amount at the time of service. It would depend on where you had the service done and how thorough a scan had to be done. You also pay a couple hundred for the tech service in a separate bill. I hope that helps! This was February of this year in Alabama, so it's a relatively recent quote!

P.S. I do not have insurance; this is actual out of pocket cost.

Typically insurance companies have contracts with the imaging centers and pay between $400 and $600. If you are paying for it without insurance expect to pay $1,000 to $1,500
