I go to bed at night and I just can't seem to go to sleep right off. I usually lay there for about an hour or so before I fall asleep. I just can't seem to get all of these things on my mind, off my mind. Please help?

See my problem is I was just recently married in April and I used to listen to music to clear everything away and get to sleep, but my husband can't sleep with it and I am being nice because I don't work and he does and has to get up at 4am. Plus, him, me, and my 60lb. boxer don't really mix well in a king size water bed, if you know what I mean.

I am one that strives on routine. Going to bed at the same time every night is always a great idea. Make sure you are getting 8 hours a sleep a night. Eating properly like adding fruits and vegtables and milk to your diet will also help. Make sure you are getting the exercise you need everyday. At least 30 minutes a day. Make a to do list of 3 things you want to accomplish that day and do those. Sometimes feeling that you accomplished something during the day will help your mind slow down at night. Sometimes it is a good idea to not watch anything on tv that is violent or might upset you. A warm bath and a nice inspirational book just before you doze off is a good idea. We all need time to unwind. Good luck with everything.

I just answered a similar question and I'll offer you the same solution. There is a tea sold at most supermarkets in the herbal tea section. It comes in a box, it is tea bags. It is called: Sleepytime Tea and if you drink about two cups about an hour before you need to sleep, you'll drift off naturally and wake up just fine. It's non-addictive of course, since it's herbal and works just wonderfully. Do not have more than two cups, though. You'll find it difficult to get up the next morning.

Turn the TV off and try reading a book while in bed. I usually fall asleep pretty quickly when I try to read. Read something you find boring.
