For one, the bible states God is a loving god. Yet, so many believers practice hate. I follow God b/c he is good, not evil. I don't follow him b/c someone has taught me if I am not for christianity, I am against them (the only way to God). Concluding, I am against God. Therefore, I am scared to question anything a teacher of Christianity or a person of Christianity is telling me. Or, any other religion for that matter. Jesus stated the only way to God is through him, b/c there were a lot of people following the doctrines of a crucifying and false church at that time. His point was I am God's son; I teach from the heart of God not from the hand of man. Follow me and you shall learn the truth not the lies of the church. I don't want to lead anyone the wrong way. But, a lot of times I have witnessed a preacher misinterpret a phrase from the bible. For instance, the debate about technology. A lot of Christians are against technology, but utilize the latest products. There not in the woods hunting for their food and living in caves. Also, one preacher mistakenly stated a barcode was 666 in binary when it actually was 555. Another time was about tiding. The bible phrase was saying about giving to people less fortunate than oneself. However, the preacher only referenced the part about giving. She added, giving to the church. I know in my heart a being of greater good exists and it triumphs over evil. If I don't believe this, then killing children and so forth aren't wrong. Anti-christ will proclaim to be of God, but it is the way he treats people that will give him away. By proclaiming to be God, he can win souls that will perform evil acts on his behalf. Just b/c you proclaim his name and memorize scriptures doesn't mean deep in your heart you love god. You are trying to be saved from suffering. I'm not criticizing any one. I want people to learn the true essence of God, which I have not fully learned. I'm seeking his will by praying for some light in the darkness. I realize some of my beliefs may be wrong. That's why I'm still here on earth. I'm learning. I'm seeking. How are you seeking God if you already know everything? Also, God gave us a brain for a reason so we won't be fooled by the devil. If I want something from you will I show up as the wolf. No, I will show up in sheeps clothing.

If Abraham can meditate to receive enlightenment, why can't I?

I thought meditation is praying and thinking over words... that's exactly what Abraham did

is anyone actually reading the posted passage? b/c the answers aren't related to the passage. the question is vague, but the passage asks for more.

to rlrose63: In one of your responses, you said you'll stick with rational thought... what is rationality? Isn't it based on perception? Basically, on the wiring of our brains and senses. For instance, a rational person may see green and believe there is no other way to look at it. However, a color-blind person may see gray. Who is more rational? That isn't a good example, but hopefully you see my point. Things aren't always what they seem. You may see a cloud, but what if it is a carriage carrying people to another dimension. you don't believe God is rational? Rational may be an illusion. I'm not saying I have all the answers. I ask many questions.

to brenda: did you even read the passage? You seek greater knowledge. That knowledge you seek, however, is in the form of scientific evaluations. You are saying we are the only entities that exist, b/c you can't sense or understand anything else. If we didn't have microscopes, we wouldn't know germs and other microscopic entities exist. Does that mean they don't exist? Do you believe having sex with 2-year old children is wrong? And, if you believe it's wrong. Then, there must be a right. Therefore, there is wrong(evil) and right(good). Therefore, there are beings who perform evil and good. What governs over evil and good? Are we the only beings that exist? There aren't any higher beings that exist that knows more about the universe, good, evil, so forth; only b/c we can't sense them.

God put the holy spirit inside of us; so that we will always have this desire to follow him.

I don't know if I'm answering your question correctly or not, but I do have a few comments. Yes, you are right too. Meditation, prayer, talking to God, they're all the same thing. Everyone does have a desire to follow God, even if they say that they don't. They just aren't aware yet that that's what it is. Many people fill that need with other things, such as food, drugs, alcohol, medication, sex etc. Yes there are a lot of people out there that claim to be christians and probably are, but still do acts of hate or sin. That is because live in a fallen world, and we are all sinners. Yes, most people do need a fresh revelation of his Love. I am like you, I'm seeking to know Him more and more, I am born again and His spirit is in me. Does that mean that I still don't practice acts of hate sometimes. Absolutely not, I am a sinner. I think that your statement/comment confirms the bumpersticker that says Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven. Not one christian out there never sins, or practices things that aren't of God from time to time. The key is to repent, and start doing right. I hope this answers some of what you're asking. God Bless my friend

The Bible says that we are all born with a spiritual need. It is by neglect, environment and probably alot of other factors that this need becomes more active and seeks fulfillment or less active and gets ignored. You are definately on the right path. Pray for God's holy spirit to help you to understand and you will receive it. Got wants you to draw close to him and he will not close the door on you. Only you can choose to close it on him and it sounds to me like you are not going to do that. Keep seeking and you shall find. Keep asking and you shall receive.

Intelligent people don’t get the urge to follow God and his will. Although God is a fake creation by man and doesn’t exist, some people sadly believe he does and attempt to follow the Bible. Well, according to the Bible God is the greatest mass murderer in history.

References: Genesis 6:11-17 and Genesis 7:11-24
Some examples:

GE 6:13 - And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.

GE 6:17 - And, behold, I, even I, do bring a flood of waters upon the earth, to destroy all flesh, wherein is the breath of life, from under heaven; and every thing that is in the earth shall die.

Seems to me that God (for you believers) is annoyed with humanity other than his buddy Noah, and decides to kill (murder) every living thing on the face of the earth, except of course Noah and his family - got to have a few friends left.

So do you also get the urge to murder innocent people. Look at history, religion is the cause of the majority of wars and murder since humanity began.

The purpose of our lives is to seek knowledge, practice love and relishing everything that is beautiful in this world. That is all there is to know in the world, that is all you need to know.

you don't have to meditate to receive enlightenment from God...

just pray and think over Gods word...

he probably wont speak directly to you, but he will show you the way through other ways...

I don't get that urge... never have and I doubt I ever will. There was a time when I really WANTED to, but it never happened, no matter how hard I prayed, believed and had others praying for me.

I'll stick with rational thought... it's never let me down.

I don't know what God's will is and neither does anyone else and the only urge I ever get is "down there".
