Because people are simple-minded, and all they know for sure, is that in their mind, in this world, they are seeing "justice".

I guess some people think that it will make them feel better. They want revenge on the person that took away one of their loved ones. I know it's sad to see people do this, but some of them have been hurt so deeply that they can't forgive the murderer. Some people also don't know about God and they think hate and vengeance is the only way to express their emotions.

Good point. BUT if it were my daughter who was raped and murdered I would have probably already killed him myself in a much less humane way. God allowed him to kill the most precious thing in the world to me. He would suffer... I would bring him close to death and make sure he was stuck in prison forever, death would be too good for him. Forgiveness? How could I be able to forgive someone who murdered my child? The sick freak is left to live while mt precious daughter was left to die alone, and terrified? I'm actually tearing up at the thought of such a gruesom experience. At this point in my life I believe in god, and forgiveness. But if God decided that thats the way my daughter had to leave this world ... FU*K FORGIVENESS!!!!! I just can't accept that... That I should spend the rest of my life hollow while he lived and my child was dead? Yes if he was to be executed I would watch. He watched the life leave my daughter, I would do the same. Call it gruesom if you want, I call it justice.

I think a lot of it has to do with the "eye for an eye" mentality. They think: "This person killed my loved one, so he/she deserves to be killed by me." And while they're not physically the ones injecting or electrocuting or hanging or whatever the murderer, it's their justice. It also offers a sort of closure; a way for the family to be sure, definitively, that the murderer can never kill someone else. It's one of those, "If I can see it I'll believe it" things. If they are physically present when the murderer is executed, only then can they be sure that no one else will have to go through what they went through (with that particular murderer, anyway).

I guess you and I will never really understand till we've stood in the place of the someone who has lost a beloved family member to a viscious murderer.
Revenge is a very human feeling, Christians are not immune from it...
Considering the numbers of times I've heard Christians talk about how they want to watch people burning and screaming in hell, watching the person who murdered their loved ones die in the electric chair actually sounds pretty tame.....

Wow, how insensitive can you be. In fact, reading most of the comments here, I think I'm going to be sick. You Christians really need to get off your damn high horse. Your belief in God does not give you the right to tell anyone how to feel or react, especially in a situation like this. Let's hope that your wonderful faith is never tested to this extreme. Tell me how you feel when you have lost a loved one to an awful death by a scumbag madman who has raped or murdered your daughter or mother, then you have the right to be judgmental to how people in the same grief stricken situation should react.....Until then come off your pedestal and have some respect!

Blood vengeance is probably the biggest evil in this world next
to false pride. Karma is God answering peoples prayers for
revenge. Salvation doesn't come from becoming perfect. But
from accepting our imperfections. Realizing none of us
have to right to look down on others. Forgiveness is the key.

hmmm.. Its not a hate. More like you wish to pass on the feeling of grief to the person who caused it. But nothing ever really can pass it on to them sometimes. Though I believe in God, not everyone does. So some people want to make someone suffer in this life instead of hoping they will in the beyond. Its also suppose to be part of a way to make sure that your tormentor is gone. The only way to make sure the person who terrorized your family is gone is to see them die in front of you. But not all families wish to see men and women get executed. But I suppose they are participants, none the less.

Not everyone choses to watch but for the ones that do I think it is just because they need closure.
Beside it was God that put forth the death penalty in the Bible and not just for murder but for other things as well. So they are not violating God's will.

Lets set aside the hilliarity of seeing someone die for a minute and really look at the heart of the problem. I personally think that all criminals should die. Also you put god in your question and then swear in my answers explain that.
