Generally you spay or neuter when they are fully vaccinated. Rabies is usually the last vaccine given at 16 weeks. (if you started at 8 weeks when vaccines should start).
Once they have all shots and rabies, 2 weeks after make the appointment.
The age at that time is about 4 months. It is an old wives tale about waiting untill after the first heat. That is NOT necessary. All of mine were done at about 4 months.

I had a vet tell me they can fix them when they reach 4 pounds but I waited until my baby was about 6 1/2 months old. have it done by your cat's vet. I wish I had--humane society did and I had to spend more money to cure the cat then it was to get him neutered

It can be done as young as six weeks, but due to their size and age, I wouldn't recommend spaying and neutering until at least six months.

we just adopted a 7 month cat and had him neutered a few days ago. it was wayyyyyyyy too late for him and he should have been neutered a long time ago. for ur kitten she may still be young, i dont know for sure but probably within a month or so.

I would call your vet Just make sure that you do get it done. My male cat did not get fixed till about a year old, but that was when he started peeing on everything I had! I waited too long and paid the price!

Call your vet for specifics, but definitly before first heat. It cuts down on her/his risk of breast/testicular cancer. My cat Ricci was neutered at 12 weeks. Buddha was nipped at 1 year, but faced a very real problem that turned out to be benign.

if you have no intention of breeding it i would get it done as soon as possible. the humane socitety spays kittens before they give them out so i would say any time should be okay.
