Why is spelling so important to some people.?

you ask a question and they dont answer the tell you didnt spell right.We used to be dumb when we couldnt spell now we are because we dont push the spell check.

b/c they are anal and that is all they know how to do in life. They are pretty much useless and have nothing to contribute to humanity ,but sarcasm.

They are pompous people who have a useless masters degree in philosophy and work at Starbucks for $8 / hour. Check out the answers above, the spelling is awesome whoopie, but the grammer suks azz. any idiot can press a spell check button.

Banging my head against the wall...because it's how the language IS, yo. I'm all for linguistic development and evolution, but is 2 plus 2 5? No.

So just use spell check, if you can't pick up a word reference guide, and go volunteer a few hours at a rape crisis center or give 10 bucks to a homeless shelter. Do something, ask something that matters. Cryin out loud, listen to Dr. Drew for 10 minutes and learn something... Please! Sheesh...

I am somewhat obsessive about spelling, mostly because I'm good at it. I don't really acknowledge if people make a couple mistakes, it bothers me more when people misspell words on purpose, like it's supposed to be cute or something.

Because people who are anal like other people who are anal. I am no exception. I don't really mind misspells, but I would never send anything out that wasn't spell-checked. Some people spell so bad that it is hard to read what they are saying.

Some people's spelling is so horrible that it makes the question or answer extremely hard to comprehend.
Other than that, it's just irritating and makes the typer look ignorant.

I guess because spelling is considered 'elementary' since many of us learned how to spell correctly in elementary school. Spelling IS really important in life and business. Imagine if your resume had spelling errors? Or your multi-million dollar business proposal had spelling errors? Others wouldn't view you as seriously if you couldn't master the simple task of spelling.

Im sure some people look at writing as speaking. They probally wouldnt talk slang so why type it.

I would think though that if you are looking for help, some people would get upset because you wouldnt even have the time to make sure everyone could understand you.

Usually, if things are spelled right, people are more likely to believe what you're writing. Example; if you don't know enough to spell correctly, do you really know enough about the topic you're giving informaiton about. Get it?
