The fundamental difference you're trying to make is that the Soviet Union was locking their people IN...not protecting from intrusion.
We need to do something to secure our borders from illegal immigration....people coming in. We don't lock our citizens in our borders from traveling.
You're comparing Apples to Oranges.

no because this wall is our wall built on our land to protect our country and our people. the soviet wall was built in another country to opress the rights and people of that other country.
