Rowdy,it seems that some people fear things they don't understand and fear turns to anger and they try to destroy what they fear. the root of insanity is anger, the root of anger is fear, the root or fear is the absence of GOD. LOVE whistle Britches

I think everyone deep down wants to believe in something and they are afraid of being scammed - people throughout history have tried to prove it wrong but some how God always well, seems to use these people to actually prove that the Bible is real and that God is real. Once they find out for themselves that the bible can't be done away with or proved wrong they decide well I guess I need to start believing and a lot of the time they become strong Christians and go on to do awesome work for the Lord.

I believe it is all in the name of healthy debate. We are told so often that the bible is historically accurate and 100% truth, so we must continually prove otherwise.

While I don't wish to do away with it... it does give many people comfort to believe it to be true... I do NOT want it or anything in it to be used as the basis for law in this country. You know, like trying to make adultery a felony. What crap.

Well, I am sure that there are people that are trying to prove it wrong, but I am not one of them. I simply ask questions about things that seem flat out wrong. I try to see things from other peoples points of view. I find that most believers will not do me the same courtesy.

I don't have to prove the bible wrong. If you have read it, I mean really read it, and studied it then you would see. I don't want to do away with it because it does have some good things in it. I think it is a book of fiction and not a non-fiction book. You can learn lessons from fiction books too.

For the same reason Christians without believing in logic try to convice non-believers the bible is real. Save the drama for your mama.

I don't believe in the Bible and I'm not trying to "do away with it". What I can't tolerate are people who insist everyone should believe in it. I can't tolerate people who use the Bible as "proof" of anything, seeing as how it has little historic validity. I can't tolerate people who use the Bible to justify bigotry (unless they can keep their bigotry to themselves).

Believe in the Bible all you want. That's fine. I don't know of anyone who has a problem with that. But don't try to shove it down the throats of non-believers and expect a warm reception. Intolerance breeds intolerance.

Simply because it is the basis for one of the most corrupt and volatile religions that has ever plagued the Earth, and if people would just look at the facts and stop basing their lives around a contradictory work of fiction we would all be a lot better off.

Because there are people in political positions campaigning to change laws, including constitutional laws, to support their particular Christian views. The more people who believe in the innate goodness of christianity without questioning it, the more will support these changes in law blindly believing the change is for the good everyone.

I remember the Blue Law. I'm glad it's gone. I don't want to see it return. There's a lot of christian rules I have no desire to see become national policy.

The bible contradicts itself, and in doing proves itself wrong. I get a laugh out of showing Christians the flaws in it. It is just fairy tails, and mythology. People use it to justify war, and bring mythology to the science class, etc. I am OK with it, if you keep it to yourself.

Because we "don't believe the bible," and from an outside perspective it honestly seems rather silly to us that some do believe what a book says...
