also for the "pro-lifers" you say life begins at conception, most stem cell reaserch is conducted using an unfertilised egg - if it hasnt been fertilised how can it be life????

How old do we want to live to? Like any other animal, there is a natural life span we all need to accept. The law of nature. If people could all live 'til they were 200, if dogs could live til they were 100, there would be no room on earth for anyone would there? Everyone suffers to some degree in life. Would there be an upside to life if there were no downsides? I'm not religious by the way. I've just lost my mum to cancer, and of course I wish there was a cure, but meddling with human nature is wrong. I live a couple of minutes away from the Roslin Institute where Dolly the sheep was born. (The first cloning)

It is remarkable how medical science has prospered. Yet, it is written in The Bible about the "world will gain knowledge as it's never known" in the end times

God warned Hezekiah in the old testament that He would surely die, and to get his house in order. Hezekiah pleaded with God to let him live because he had been such a faithful servant. " I shall walk carefully all my years: This is a good promise Hezekiah makes, and one often on the lips of the person God has spared. But in the end, it was only a good promise if Hezekiah made it good.

What did Hezekiah do with these added 15 years? One thing he did was father a son who would succeed him on the throne of Judah. Of the next king of Judah, Manasseh, the son of Hezekiah, it is written that he was 12 years old when he became king (2 Kings 21:1). This means he must have been born in the last 15 years of Hezekiah’s life. Sadly, fathering Manasseh was not a worthy achievement. It was written of him, And he did evil in the sight of the Lord, according to the abominations of the nations whom the Lord had cast out before the children of Israel (2 Kings 21:2). In fact, God specifically targeted Judah for judgment because of the terrible sins of Manasseh (2 Kings 21:10-15).

In this, we may see that the Lord had a better plan than Hezekiah did in calling him home at the earlier time. God knew that if Hezekiah lived, he would give birth to this wicked successor. Sometimes it is best to simply leave our lot with the Lord, and leave what even seems to be clearly good up to His wisdom.

People who are suffering don't want to convert to Christianity they tend to think that God is punishing them and want nothing to do with them. Some of us pro-lifers have links with the medical community and understand how crazy this all is. It's not like it's illegal to perform the research it's just that no government funding is going towards it. The drug companies are allowed to do whatever they want and they're the ones that do the most towards developing things anyway. There are plenty of stem cells in embilical cord blood and that is the stuff that they are getting the most real use out of right now and nothing has to die. I just think it's criminal that it costs upwards of $5000 to save a babies cord blood and then up to $1000 a year to "maintain" it after that. Think of all the lives we could save if we just saved it.

I really do believe that life begins at conception and that is why I don't think that embryos should be destroyed and used for research. If I thought that they weren't real humans I wouldn't have a problem with it either. Our navy has been trying to get their hands on research that the horrible Nazi doctors did on hypothermia for years and it has been locked up and sealed for eternity. It also could save lives since they studied how best to resucitate people who have had cold water drownings but the world community (rightly I think) decided that since people were "purposefully" killed in the research it would be immoral to use it.

There is a lot of scientific advancement.Birth defects can be detected at very early stage of pregnancy .Amneotic fluid test/anaylsis scan etc reveals serious birth defects.IF the baby is fond to be unfit for living a good life, pregnancy should be allowed to be terminated. In India MTP(Medical Termination of Pregnacy)Law is there. But one should ensure that the clauses are not misused by doctors who want to make money.Catholic advises are not heard in such cases mostly by educated.Church should not be permitted to meddle with science and increase suffering.Church should try to reduce human sufferings.

A human's 'natural lifespan' used to be about 40 years, a few hundred years ago before antibiotics, chemotherapy, transplants and other forms of tampering. All medicine is about 'tampering' with that; it's just a question of how far you want to go. A lot of "pro-lifers" seem to think the right to life starts at conception and ends at birth.

Medical science could have come along way if they had released the cures for cancer 30 years ago when they discovered cures and hid them because there is an money orientated industry in 'research'. ALso AIDS is this 'research' zone, along with many others. The reason why they dont release these cured that ARE there is because they are needed in poorer countries, which means they wont make money from helping these brothers and sisters. Hopefully one day this will change!

In the society, there are two kinds of people in general. That is determinded by their reaction or behaviours perform in the society. They are progressive and conservative. Those people who are progressive want to explore and reveal new things in the world who belongs to research fellow. But in the society we have those religious people who always concentrates not on the new things but on the thing what is in front of them and sometimes cry to stop research or exploration, which they think hindrance of the society. However, they cannot stop the on-going nature of the social progress that is because nobody can stop the ongoing watch. Thus be optimistic, one day cell research is common.

All religions become corrupt over time so u end up with a body of belief that is nonsensical

However there is always a new religion on the rise - not Islam - Bahai

The beauty of a new religion is that it unites people and that is what the world needs right now

I accept that medical science now allows us to live longer.
I take issue however with the suggestion that it has "advanced", or that we are happier.
It still relies heavily on butchery, and on use of drugs that damage the body, and it still continues to deny the value of Eastern wisdom even though they can be seen to have very good results without the need for any of the savagery of Western medicine.

It's just the uneducated misunderstanding of the subject. If they would do there research and not reject the idea right off the bat, then they might be able to look at it objectively.
