My fiance and I applied for a fiance visa back in February 2006. In July our case was approved and the paperwork was forwarded to the UK (where he is immigrating from). This month (August) he had his medical exam, but we have not heard from the embassy yet in regards to an interview date. Does anyone know the time frame of when that should happen? Also, once he does have the interview, how long afterwards until he gets the visa and is able to finally be here in the US with me? Im hoping he'll be here by October 2006. Is that reasonable to think that or am I just being hopeful? Please help...I am growing impatient and would appreciate some guidance. Thanks in advance! :)

We have contacted the embassy and they said that every case is unique and they couldnt give us a timeframe so that's why I was wondering how it was for others. People keep telling me 6-9 months....well is that from the time I applied in the US back in February, or is it from 6-9 months from the time the case was approved in July and was forwarded on to the UK?

Don't worry - you're half way there! Me and my fiance will be going through the same thing as you in November - I'm the British fiancee and he's the us citizen. One you've been approved and your fiance has sent everything back that is required in the pack that he would have received from the London embassy, the wait is normally around 74 days for the interview. He will receive a interview date around 2 weeks before the actual interview and if the interview goes well then he will be issued the visa either on the day or in a couple of days. Check out this site - www.visajourney.com - it's full of information and timescales and so many people who are going through and have been through exactly what you are going through. Good luck :)

US immigration is not known for their speed even inside local offices. For consulates and embassies there should be a heavy delay since they only have few peoples for that kind of procedures. There is no specific timeframe since they treat each case on a first come first serve basis. If he already has sent the medical papers will take probably a few months to receive an appointment for interview. After the interview expect a request for some more documents especially Tax statements from you as evidence of support or whatever they think should be pertinent. Since we are in August I will not raise your hopes for him to be there in October. My process took a year to be processed and get the green card and that because I was already married and in United States at the time of the petition. Fiancee visa can take longer. He can access the website of the immigration and check his status provided he have a A# (he should have one assigned) or call the embassy for more information.

Fiancee visa is the hardest visa to get because there are a lot of verifications to prove the relationship. Anyway, contact the embassy or read the guidelines online to determine the approval of the visa.

I think it take around 6 to 9 months. That`s what my Aunt told me. You can check with the embassy they`ll tell you what is the current situation of your application.
