I think at 6 months they can be neutered.

kittens can be neutered at the age of 3 months, as long as they weigh at least 2 pounds and are healthy...however it should be done no later than 5 months of age.

After this age they start developing (puberty) and if they smell a female cat in heat, it is possible that they will start spraying which is a habit that is almost impossible to break.

Many shelters now do the neutering and spaying at two months, two pounds.

Like the female who can have a heat cycle as early as five months, the male can have his hormones rising and inaction before six months. I would not wait till six months. Insist that your vet do it at five and if he won't find another vet.

The Winn Institute in Florida did a long-term study on early speutering and found it had no deleterious effect on cats. That study was completed over ten years ago.

I agree with 4 to 6 months.

The correct answer is 4-6 months. The Humane Society will do it when the cat weighs 2 lbs. or more, and most vets will too. This will prevent cancer, unwanted behavior, and aggression that tomcats have when they meet each other. Plus, it is the right thing to do.

I have 3 male cats and I was told by the vet to wait till at least 6 months, I strongly suggest you doing it then or they will start to mark there territory

most old school vets say 6 month but recent studies show that 12-14 weeks is better. cats can become pregnant and get other cats pregnant as early as 5 month of age. and good for you for wanting to fix your pet!

As early as your vet and budget will allow if between 3-6 months. If your vet wants you to wait until 8 months with no health issues, find a new one.

If you don't know what "spraying" is, you don't want to. Trust me.
