Unfortunately it's probably not going to go very well for your friend if the same charge is being brought up again.
The courts don't like repeat offenders, especially with felony fire arms as a charge. He can expect to get the same sentence or worse in a case like this. Unless he get's a merciful judge(don't be too optimistic on this one) that might not give more time to serve. There are usually state requirements on this but that doesn't mean it's always adhered to......I'm so sorry for your friend, but he'll more than likely be going back to prison for a while.

That varies from state to state. Some have mandatory minimums and harsher punishments for repeat offenders. If the charges are the same as before, I'd guess his punishment will be atleast twice as harsh as the first.

He might spend another 5 ....really is at the discretion of the Judge and State attorney. If he has had any other prior convictions, they can throw the book at him or not.It all depends.
