He should be fed a puppy formula like Esiblac... (there are other brands...) it is sold at most pet stores and I believe wal-mart carries it as well...
It is typically dehydrated, add warm water and mix it according to the directions on the can. It is the best thing for your puppy, next is goats milk but get the formula if you can. Cows milk is inappropriate and should only be used in an emergency (ie you can't get to a store that's open until morning)
The first option is usually to bottle feed... the bottles will be sold right with the formula... at his age, he may be able to lap it out of a saucer too but get the bottles just in case... if he refuses the bottle and can't lap it up on his own he needs to get to a vet... at his age 4-5 hours without feeding can be very bad.

Mothers replacement milk. You get it at the vet. It comes ready to use but it's cheaper to buy the powder & mix with water. The puppy will drink it... no need to bottle feed. He/she should love it and it provides colostrum which is good for them. Also, between 4 & 5 weeks old, the puppy can start eating puppy food. Let it soak in water until it's mushy. I got this information from the vet. I just did all of this with 4 1/2 week old lab puppies. Everything worked out fine!

well, what I did when my pups were 4 wks old and I started weaning them is I ground up the dry dog food with my hand blender and then added some evaportated milk to it til it was the consistency of canned dog food. As the pups got older I started to grind the food not so fine and then when they were about 6 wks I was just moistening the whole kibble pieces then by 7 wks they were eating it dry. Just make sure you give her a high quality kibble (no supermarket stuff). My pups were raised on Innova EVO and they are extremely healthy.
Some excellent brands of food are:
Wellness
Solid Gold
Innova
Canidae
California Natural
Timberwolf
Fromm
Natural Balance
I know I may have missed a few, but those are the ones I could think of right now.

You need to go to Petsmart and get some special formula. At 4 weeks it is still dependent on mom for nutrition. You can also buy some large breed puppy food (the best on the market is Hill's Science Diet Lg. Breed Puppy food) make it into a gruel by liquifying it with water and squirting it into his mouth with a large syringe.
You also need to take it to a vet to rule out dehydration or other abnormal conditions, as well as get it de-wormed. They can give you guidance as to how to properly feed and care for the puppy. GL

Simple. Pups are just like little kittens, and believe me, I have raised my share. Go to the pet store or to the vet and pick up some puppy milk re-placer. The pup should drink out of a bowl or saucer by now, but if not get a puppy bottle. You should also give him some puppy food too, but usually pups aren't weened until six weeks.

Your best bet is to take it to the vet and let the vet check him/her then he will give you puppy formula. Or you can go to a pet store and get puppy formula. I had to feed the runt to a litter of pupps that my dog had it was neat. I fed him every 2-3 hours and he drank a 1-2 oz each time.. Your vet should be able to tel you how much to feed and how often. Good luck

darkish brown poop could be standard. i might come across a vet sometime next week and characteristic a stool pattern checked for parasites just to be on the secure section and get him his first dose of vaccines. doggies that have not nursed on mom don't get the immunity from her milk to guard them from issues like Parvo so those first vaccines are substantial. incredibly with the breed, they look greater susceptible to it than different breeds. Congrats on the recent domestic dog, I even have had my pit bull Jade because of the fact she became into 3 days previous. She became into an proprietor renounce on the sanatorium I labored at via them being too white trash to restoration her laceration. Love her! good success!

i would call a vet and ask them what to do, usually if you make an appt they will answer a question or two. they have formula type stuff at petco, petsmart type places. you could probably do a mix of the formula and soaked mushy puppy food at 6 weeks. also at 6 weeks they get their first shots, dewormed (almost all puppies and kittens have worms) and treated for fleas if necessary. good luck!!

puppy formula..you can get it from any pet store along with a bottle. being that the pup is 4 weeks old you also can give it gruel.mix up some puppy chow with hot water until it gets really soggy then give it to the puppy....also offer the pup some water but formula is still best.
