Well, i have been doing some research...where to begin...Though shall not worhship false idols...what do the catholics worship...Mary, everything in the catholic religion revolves around mary mother of Jesus, also, they pray to mary, and you should not pray to the spirits you are to pray to The Lord God in the name of Jesus NOT in the name of mary...so does this mean that Catholics are going to hell? and please, this is not to slam catholics in any way, i am genuinly curious of the matter and deeply concerned because i have many catholic friends and am truly worried about them.

Alright, i have to add something after everyone is saying this...the only defence ANYONE is giving me is that "mary is revered not worshiped." STILL you are still praying to mary and this is breaking a commandment.

We don't worship Virgin Mary [Our lady of Gudalupe] we revered her and we do pray to her for her protection on our spirit and so she can give us love as Jesus Christ does too.
If your friends are Catholic, they must be Catholic because their parents taught them that belief and leave them alone. You seem to be saying that all Catholics need some sort of help.

In the name of God, do some real research and get your facts straight. Everything in the Church does not revolve around Mary, nor do all Catholics pray to her. When they do, the effect is roughly that of asking your buddy to pray for you. Catholics worship Christ, just like everyone else. Maybe if you went to a Catholic service you would realize that.

Too funny. Many human beings have dedicated their entire lives to the scriptures since its first incarnation appeared. To this day people spend their entire existence attempting to understand the Bible. The result of such dedication is countless numbers of Christian denominations, and many translations. The reason for this, I believe, is that each person, complete with their own ideas, influential histories and environments, interprets the bible in a manner which makes sense to them. It is a natural human tendency to attempt to make sense of the world. That is why an Eastern Orthodox Christian may interpret the same material in an entirely different manner from a Southern Baptist or Mormon, etc. Much in the same way two students might differ when interpreting the meaning of Othello in a High school English class. What I find hilarious is when someone reads the bible, in English, a language very different from Aramaic, and proclaims that they have found the “Truth!” What makes that individual, with their few years on earth, with their personal biases and influences think they have discovered the correct way to interpret the bible, when people have been trying to do the same for 2000 years.

It isn't part of the Catholic dogma to worship Mary. However, Catholics often ask Mary to pray to Jesus on their behalf. It is the Catholic belief that Mary will intercede for use. Because Mary is the mother of Jesus, and Jesus listens to his mother (look at the wedding at Cana), it is the hope that Jesus will be more likely to answer our prayers if Mary asks them for us. I hope this clarifies a few things. Sorry if it confuses you even more. God bless.

All men & women sin and fall short of the glory of God. Romans 3:12 The focus should be Jesus and God. God had to choose a woman and Mary was a woman whom loved God. She too was a sinner. People can be mislead when they don't have the whole story. Reading the New Testament really clears that up.

I think it is helpful to go to the SOURCE when studying about a religion. You don't cite any of your sources, but anti-catholic groups often use fanciful, outdated, and even paranoid conspiracy theories about why the Catholic church is evil and wrong. Try asking your friends respectfully what they believe. And LISTEN to what they say. Don't just whip out your pre-scripted responses as soon as they try to answer.
Check out websites that are approved by the Roman Catholic church, that way you can read the official answer. Scripture Catholic gives Old and New Testament evidences for Catholic beliefs. Try checking out Catholic Answers, they are good at explaining why Catholics believe what they do. See the links below regarding the topics you mentioned. Good luck on your research.

Ok well first off i'm Catholic, and the research you did was all WRONG! We do not worship The Virgin Mary. We only pray to her. Like as if you were asking one of your friends to pray for you if you were sick. Same thing.

We're all sinners. Catholics do not worship Mary, they revere her as the mother of the Christ, Jesus. Only God is to be worshipped.

Question...What Commandment is being broken when she is not worshipped?
Answer to your inquiry: She and the other saints in heaven are not worshipped, but communicated with. When they are prayed to, it is merely talking to them and asking for their prayers. Its the same as asking another Christian here for prayer.
My God is not the God of the Dead, but the God of the living. The body of Christ...His church....is here on earth and in heaven with those that have passed from this earth.
It is not idol worship nor conjuring the dead. You need more study and discernment to really get what this is.
