Psoriasis is an arthritis auto-immune linked. Although the disease is "commonly" observed as a rash in elbows and knees (sometimes entire body) it is actually destroying the small joints of your hands. Since it is auto-immune linked the disease may (in some cases) spread to your lungs or kidneys (glomerulonephritis) and that can be very serious. You need to look for information about a good diet so that Psoriasis cannot flair up. Absolutely avoid red meat (chicken or sea food are best but no shellfish!!) Best wishes!

if the skin gets extremely cracked and you have open wounds, you could contract a staph infection, which can be fatal. But that's rare, and psoriasis is mostly an irritant!
