yes. all cats and dogs are born with worms, regardless of its' breed or bloodline. If you don't get the worms taken care of, it can cause anemia, diarrhea, intestinal problems, plus the worms can be passed from your cat to you. It is called a Zoonotic disease. The most common are roundworms. You can also get hookworms, tapeworms and whipworms from your animals so please go get the meds needed to take care of it. Someone who answered this question also indicated that you can get worms from fleas. that is incorrect information. Fleas do not serve as host for any parasite. Fleas can cause anemia from blood loss if the flea infestation is severe enough. Heartworm is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito that lands on and bites your dog or cat thus infecting them as well. Heartworm disease is not contagious to people or from pet to pet. It can only be detected with a blood test.

Cats can need worming medications. Usually it isn't done routinely, only when you see evidence of worms.
I am thinking you mean heartworm pills. Cats do get heartworms and they are usually fatal in cats as cats cannot tolerate the strong medication to eradicate their growth. Many dogs cannot survive the treatment for a severe manifestation either.
My cats are out in my garden every day and subject to mosquito bites. I do not give the heartworm pills to my cats. The expense would be terrific with five cats and I do not like the idea of putting any poisonous stuff through their intestinal tracts. So I take that risk with them.

Yes. Cats can get worms just like dogs. The most common way they get them is from ingesting fleas, so if they have fleas they most likely have worms (although there are other ways). They can also get heartworms.

Good luck getting your cats to take the pill. And, they cost about $9 each. When you see worms crawling out of your cat's ***....and you will. Just throw the cat out of a moving car. The faster the better.

Yes. Kittens can get worms from the mother as well as puppies do. If this goes untreated the cat will lose weight and get sick from it.

Preventative medicines are needed to prevent infestation. These meds are needed to prevent absorbanent vet bills later to treat preventable diseases. Just like rabies, distemper, and other deadly diseases that are required by law.
