I think if he gets her pregnant she can make him pay child support for 18 years. Make her go to a sperm bank and get it from an anonymous donor.

I would see a lawyer first. I know they are friends now, but.... What if the women break up and the one with custody is not being a good parent? What would he do or want to do. What if one of them gets nasty and asks for child support? What if the child asks who the father is and wants to know why the father isn't in his/her life? Does your friend want to be in the child's life? Until and unless he can answer these questions and a million others, he had better think about it a long time.

On the face of it, provided everyone is happy, yeah, go for it.
But, and this is a serious but, what happens when the male gets fatherly towards the child? (hey it happens, we arent all support dodgers). How would the lesbian couple feel about that?
Just be sure that everyone (ok you cant really speak for the child to be) is and will always be ok with the relationships

Yes even lesbians can want a child of their own from a male that they find attractive. There are forms that can be filled out that will absolve the male form any legal responsibility to the resulting child.
Other wise a sperm bank is the better route to take.

I think it might be a better idea to adopt or go to a sperm bank. Having a friend be the father could make things really complicated and uncomfortable later on.

As long as this is what both of the mothers wants it's fine. He should probably form some sort of contract just in case she tries to get him to pay child support.
That would suck hardcore.

If the girlfriend wants to have a child, I suggest she find a nice young man first, make a commitment, then have the kid.

Its not right. I am all for equality but can't understand same sex couples raising children - I would rather have a single parent or a step mother than have "2 mummies" - its well wierd.

Can you say artificial insemination? It could take along time doing the 'Old fashion way'. Are you sure he isn't just trying to get some action?
