I think that it is a normal part of human development to start to wonder about how we came to be on this planet and whether or not there really is a God who created us and who has a purpose for us being here.

You're lucky that you are turning to Him at an early age because then you won't be like me and many of the people I went through my 20's and 30's with. We figured that life was one big party before we died and that was it. All of my old friends have either come to know Jesus as their Lord and Savior or their lives have been shipwrecked because after a while another beer or joint or whatever starts to pale and the reality that if we are just some cosmic accident with no hope or future brings depression and frustration into the soul.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

2 Corinthians 5:10 For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil.

Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, 'Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.'

As a born again Christian , I can guarantee you have not become " religious " just by listening to one of the backstreet boys` music. You are in for a much more life changing experience by asking the Lord to save you and forgive you of your sins !! If the music has a beat that the world can relate to , then your friends will consider themselves " religious " also , so you won`t lose any "friends" on that account !! Being " religious " is much more than liking a song ...

You ask: "I am 18 and have never been overly religious is it weird to be religious now after all this time?" - NO! It's just your time to start. Some start earlier, some much later. Now is your time, hope it's all you are looking for.
There will be bad days, and good days ahead. Keep focused on the goal, not distracted by the glitz around you.
You will be testing the people around you. If a few can't understand give them time, don't close the door on anyone. Also stay level, middle of the road. Don't go to extremes - MODERATION in ALL things.
People will think what they think, and do what they do, guided by their free will, JUST STAY BEING YOU.
Nothing worth having will be easy. A deeper understanding of yourself is very valuable.

(P.S. Being three times as old as you - I hope you understand - but your not old - yet. "after all this time..." HA! Please understand how this is a little funny. Peace.)

First, liking a song with religious overtones, does not mean that you are religious. Just because someone is paid to sing a song does not mean they believe in the song. I like Japanese music. I also like Elton John's singing. This does not make me Japanese or Gay.
That said, there is nothing wrong with wanting to know Jehovah and draw closer to him, at any age. My Grandmother was in her 50s or 60s before she started to really take an interest in God. Both my brothers have stopped caring about Jehovah, and they are in there 20s and 30s. Age, Race, Gender. None of these things matter to Jehovah. The Bible was written for everyone.

Nope its never to late and when you realize that there is a bigger picture than what a bunch of people here on Earth think. I use to be one of those people who made fun of Christians and I found the truth out at 28 in the same fashion you are curiosity. When I first started someone told me to read Matthew, Mark, Luke and John in the Bible which is the teachings of Christ and this will help you get started in you quest for more information.

I think it is wonderful that someone you admire has brought you to Christianity. I wish more celebrities out there would be concerned with how their influence might affect others.

As for it being too late to become religious...no way!! :) Actually, I think that God has been waiting for you. He probably knew that you would like the Backstreet Boys and that Brian would put out a Christian album, and has been waiting for you all along.

No matter what negative thing anyone may ever say to you, nothing is as important as your personal relationship with God. It doesn't matter when you started it, or how, or why. All that matters is that you did. God bless you!

Not at all. My husband didn't become religious until he was 30. If you liked this music, it was God speaking to your heart through your favorite performer. You should check out some of the contemporary christian artists, such as Third Day, Todd Agnew, and Casting Crowns. You may be surprised. I also recommend getting involved with a church that has a strong program geared toward your age level. These people won't think you're weird, in fact they will encourage you further in your spiritual growth.

i imagine that if someone you care about dies and also you discover contentment, you're both perplexed or fairly darkish. coping with lack of life is frustrating, understanding that there is no longer something magical waiting for you on the different side makes lack of life darkish and scary. i have lost quite a few pal and a pair of sturdy pals. basically time enables. You slowly get used to that individual no longer being there, like in the journey that they moved to a unique city you would not discover it unusual that you do not see them on a daily basis. it really is continuously slightly unhappy as far as i visit inform, i have by no skill fairly were given over the inability of life of someone I care about a minimum of. It basically turns right into slightly more desirable person-pleasant to handle. basically remember the sturdy situations, earnings from the very undeniable actuality that you purchased the time with them you probably did and remember that it is not a nasty aspect to be unhappy that lifeless absolutely everyone is lifeless.

I believe that maybe you've reached a certain age in which now you're questioning everything . That's both fine and normal. We as human beings should question everything we've been taught and heard. If you think its weird that someone of that status is a Christian, you shouldn't. Everyone at some point in their life should investigate Jesus and who he ACTUALLY is. I think that if people are truely honest with themselves they might really like Him. And hopefully more. He's the best thing in the world.

There is a difference between "being religious" and "exploring different questions about God."

There is nothing wrong with you suddenly deciding to take a new look at God and faith and all that, especially at this age. You are coming into your own as a person, it is normal to explore new territory.

If anybody really has a problem with it, ask them why?

Usually, nobody will really care what music you are listening to.
