pnuemonia and have to be hospitalized too. Then the whole family says you did it because you just wanted attention yet the hospital puts you on the icu unit because you r so ill and then to top it off they call you a junkie because i am bipolar and have to take a lot of medications for that. Would you feel left out and abandoned by your family and friends because they tend to believe what they have been hearing. I feel so lost and lonely that i am on the verge now of a major manic downfall. I wish i weren't here can anyone help me out? I am so depressed

Hon, as a bipolar myself, trust me sometimes you have to stop defining you family/friends as your ''significant others" and make your caretakers your extended family....I, for one, have been judged, disowned, and generally abused by my family because they just can't come to grips with my mental illness....you just have to accept it and let them go on and be themselves...the problem is with them and their limited knowledge and reserve of mental capacity to deal with our illnesses. You know in your heart what is going on with you.....you don't have to be affected by the opinions and judgement. of other people....As long as you have SOME sort of support system, like a counselor or whoever treats you for your mental illness, you are all ok and need to rely on your good support system....there are all sorts of support groups on line you can reach out to, but for crying out loud, don't let the ignorance of others [even if you love them] affect your taking care of yourself and your illness....may God be with you and I hope you recover soon.♥

Pneumonia is a serious medical condition.Your family seems very unsupportive of you and your condition. You can't live your life for other people though. You can only depend on yourself.Mental illness is poorly understood by people because they are afraid and ignorant. You should speak with your clergyman or counselor about these negative feelings you are having. You can't change those people, you just have to learn how to deal with them and keep yourself from going nuts.If you have a contact hot line you can call them they are trained counselors.Good Luck to you
