Here is a list of what should be responsible and reputable breeders in Ohio...

Ohio is a problematic puppy mill state. If you do find one, please be responsible and go to the sellers house and ask to inspect his kennel if he has one and if not to show you the sire and dam and talk about the breed with you. A lot of puppy millers sell the dogs themselves and have their kennels off-site... but they usually are excessively unknowledged when it comes to the breed and often won't be able to produce the sire or dam because they have not been human-socialized.

I'm going to link to a bunch of resources that you should use to help locate a reputable breeder. Simply having two purebreds that came from a breeder does not mean that the dogs are sound and I highly recommend against buying from someone whose home you can't visit and who doesn't meet the reputable breeder requirements.

A reputable breeder is someone who breeds for conformation and perfection within the breed.

They should be able to provide 3-5 generations of research into the health of the parents, etc.

They generally have had the dogs screened for certain genetic illnesses.

A reputable breeder will generally be involved with their local breed clubs and follow their code of ethics, along with the AKC's.

They will guarantee to talk the dog back should you ever have to relinquish it.

They will ask you questions to make sure you are an appropriate home.

And many more. See below for a myriad of links to great info. Good luck in your search! : )

Have a great time finding an English Bulldog that has no health problems. That is the hallmark of the breed. Did you know they are at the top of the list currently for the breed with the highest incidence of Hip Dysplasia???? That along with all the breathing problems, skin problems, and other orthopedic problems, puts them in the top 3 for unhealthiest breeds!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually my cousin does. Over the summer he had 4 of them, 3 of which he has sold successfully. He bought a male and female from a breeder and then he bred two puppies. He is near Cincinnati. Send me and e-mail and I can put you in touch.
