Ok, pull out the phone book and get some paper and pen. You got some homework to do! Call different companies, and ask. Tell them you need a insurance quote. Here's some of the questions that they are going to ask.
1: name
2: birthdate
3: address
4: violations
5: driver's education (discount)
6: good student (discount)
7: year, make, model of your car or truck
8: vin or serial number of your car or truck
9: how do use the car or truck, go back and forth to school
deliver pizzas
10: what kind of coverage do want
a. liability-pays for the other guys car-the one you hit
b. uninsured motorist-pays to fix your car if the guy who hits you doesn't have insurance or money to fix it with
c. uninsured motorist bodily injury-helps pays medical bills if the accident wasn't your fault and guy doesn't have insurance
d. comprehensive coverage-wind, fire, theft, animal damage,
glass(windshield) hail
c. collision-fixs your car if you are the one at fault
That's the questions that they will asking. Your best bet is to call around and get "quotes". I imagine a independent agent, a person who works for theirself is going to be your best bet, but do some shopping. It saves a lot of money. It's a pain, but worth it in the long run!
God bless us all....

Geico, Progessive, State Farm, Farmers, American Family, Esurance, Safe Auto and Allstate are some of the largest or at least most well advertised companies. I'd suggest calling or checking their website to get a quote. Most of them offer a rate reduction for good grades and going for a year without and accident or ticket. If you talk to an insurance sales rep, they can let you know about the incentives for driving safely.

Progressive will take newbies but it's rather expensive, i used to have it for a Corolla for about $2500 a year ( i was then 23 or 24 with 7 years driving experience), I am now switched to AIS for under $1200/yr. now i am considering switch to AAA as an experienced driver because i have heard that AAA's got better policy

Try as many as you can, so you know what your options are. However, the word on the street is that the competitive rates Progressive quotes you are not accurate. It would not seem possible given how varied rates can be and how often companies change their pricing, that Progressive would be right all the time.
