Im curious about why this is a requirement and what questions do they ask. I can assume what they are, but I am looking for actual questions from some one that has taken this for this type of position. My guess is they ask questions about your application and try to find false information in it.

I would be applying to either Wyoming or Nebraska.

Before you take the actual exam, they will ask you every question on the exam. They will ask questions such as have you ever stolen anything? If so what? Is that all? Have you ever participated or had knowledge of a felony and did not report it/ What? Why or why not? How many times have you used a certain type of drug? When was last time? All the questions will be geared in this general form surrounding you, your charachter, yoour criminal history, etc. THE KEY TO PASSING THE TEST IS TO ANSWER TRUTHFULLU ON EACH QUESTION. YOU WILL BE GIVEN THE OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLAIN IN DETAIL EVERY THING YOU WORRY ABOUT OR THAT YOU HAVE DONE.. If you've committed a felony or seriou crime you will be disqualified by state laws. Other than that, if you him haw around and try to half way answer and cover some up you will fail. If you tell the truth, and haven't done anything real serious, you will pass. They are looking for the truth. If you cannot tell the truth on polygraph, you cannot be a credible witness in court. Thus any cases you had to tesify on would be inadmisable nd you'd be no use as an officer.

Bottom Feeder is a dumb ***. I took one to get into patrol school in MS. Graduated, by the way, in 1999. So please don't listen to him. Listen to the guy below him. They will go over the questions with you before they even start the test and they will be yes or no questions. They will also have you answer a question incorrectly to get a reading. Hard to do what bottom dumby told you to do. Try your best to relax and answer as truthfully as you can and you will be ok.

The content of the questions won't matter, in fact the way they mix them up is what keeps you wondering, on edge, and simply assuming that no matter how truthful you think you are your cardiovascular system is bleating out a simple but loud message, " LIAR, LIAR, LIAR . . . ."

So the first thing to do in the first questions is to lie your *** off. Then when you need to lie, you won't care anymore, and the poly is already set to read your lies as the truth.

You need this, because as a state trooper you will become involved in so much corruption that you can't afford to let a stupid little machine ruin your life.

99% of the time they will ask if you lied on your application, if you've ever done drugs and if so how many times, your character, your reason for joining, etc. Anything that you put "none" or "N/A" on your application will be verified by this test.
