I get the no tattoo thing, and some say no henna. Does that also include sunless-tanning stuff? Think about it, if you say no henna, you've got to say no sun-less tanning stuff because, all henna is staining skin, wich is all sun-less tanning cream is... so does that mean no sun-less tanning?

Your body is a temple. If you think graffiti looks good on a temple, that's your choice.

I think the key is to understand the intent behind the command. God doesn't throw rules at us just to be a pain; He has a reason for every command. I do not believe that tattoos are inherently wrong, but God didn't design us as billboards. I most definitely would not put a bumper sticker on a new Mercedes Benz because it would detract from the beauty of the car. In the same light, I would not put a tattoo on me because I think it detracts from me.

In all honesty, I really don't think God is very concerned about sun-less tanning. But I would bet that it bothers Him when people use it in vanity, or feel they need it to be valuable.

Add some details to your question with the Chapter and Verse of the Bible that says no marking. I've never read that.

I find it just another superficial ideology created by people in some type of religious power.
God doesn't give a hoot what you look like. Look around you and see if He hasn't a sense of humor in human creations.
When you die, your body will decay, it won't go to the other side with you. God cares about what you do to learn about Him and helping other people, no matter their lot in life. Then you won't have time to tan and won't worry about it.

Our church as annual tattoo events. The law about not marking your body is an Old Testament law. It's in the same section that says not to eat pigs, and that God doesn't really like us to go to the bathroom. So, if you follow the OT law saying don't tattoo, you must also stop eating pork. You must also sacrifice a bull when you've committed certain sins.

I'm glad Jesus came to answer for those laws. I'm nut much into killing bulls, and I prefer pork to beef any day.

The prohibition against tattoos in the Bible has more to do with stating your devotion to someone other than God.

In the time of the Israelites, some cultures tatooed themselves as a sign of thier devotion to pagan gods. The idea was that a tatoo is permanent and you marked yourself as belonging to a pagan god.

God told His people "You belong to Me and I belong to you. The sign that you belong to Me is not some superficial mark on your skin, but what is in your heart."
