I have seen it at every post I have been at. E-4's with 4-5 kids and a woman who spends up all there money. Then, when it's time to buy ACU's and equipment, they are always coming to us asking for AER and other help. We have to take batallion donations every holiday for food and money for these people so their kids can have a good holiday. I personally feel like it's unfair, and if you can't support them, don't whip it out and screw. One of my soldiers has 4 kids under 4, and can't afford to keep gas in his car. When it's time to train and be somewhere, that's a problem. I don't understand this. But we trust these people with weapons? They can't even be trusted to make sound decisions with their own dick.

Sgt B...they spend their clothing allowances on their families just to pay bills and stuff. I'm not their babysitter, I'm their NCO. They are grown adults, soldiers, that should know resposnibility and manage themselves better. No getting around that.

what happens is that they knock up thier girls so that they don't run to jody while they're out on duty. then they think they love them when they get back. the ones that need to stop this are the women that bare children with no plan for the future and they let these guys gas them up like the world is going to be theirs when they get back from duty. no one gets rich being a soldier.

I hate to say this but you hit the nail on the head with the woman spending up all the money, There is absolutely no reason why a woman has to do that. They get free housing, free medical, all the money the guy makes while overseas seems to be spent frivolously. I'm not saying all the wives but I have seen it happen.
Unfortunately it's not just the military that it happens too. A lot of people have babies like revolving doors and depend on the government to pay for them.

I've seen this as well in the military communities I've lived in. However....we only have 2 children and the spending up all the money falls to my husband. There is a little thing called Causal Pay as I am sure you are familiar with being an NCO and all. I being a military wife have been quickly educated on the subject since my husband deployed last September and has taken this casual pay on top of his allotment to his checking account. He also is constantly taking out loans behind my back with finance companies that target the military. I find out about them when a new allotment shows up on his LES. He has gotten involved with payday loan places behind my back also in the past. If I hadn't taken over the finances in our household we wouldn't have a pot to pee in or a window to throw it out of. The thing I think needs to be addressed is finances. In my husbands defense...he may be lousy with finances...but he is a very good soldier.....and NCO.

My husband was in the military and we often saw the same thing. You might try to get the battalion involved in the "budget training". Unfortunately our schools teach very little about budgeting and the benefits and few parents let their kids see how their monthly accounts go up and down and how budgets work. There are several financial training programs out there and it would be fabulous if you looked into it and made a little 3 hour "training course" for the young families in your battalion. Make sure to provide free day care! I can smell a commendation already!

All these things you are refering to are donation type things that have set up at diffrent post. If you are against them just dont donate. As far as ACUs they still shouldnt have a problem with that cause we got a clothing allowance every year and if they stil cant get new uniforms that is something that should be taken care of up the chain. You said you have a troop so I am taken it you are an NCO. I would think you would of been trained on how to handle these problems rather them come on Yahoo Answers and ask.

Give you some great advice Sgt., seeing I have been in your place in past. First off not all soldiers get base housing so they are fed to the wolves when having to rent. Since many of these young EMs have money troubles it is part of your job to see they learn to manage it wisely, care of your soldiers and they will take care of you. I will sent you a great link to check out and this person will teach you and your soldiers how to manage their money. Its tough on young soldiers who get married at a young age, same as civilian young couples.

i am sorry to hear that somewhere in your military training you did not learn the loyalty, duty, repect, selfless service, honor and integrity that your soldiers need you to posesss as their leader. Instead of posting a complaint in the form of a question on yahoo you should have spent this time looking into ways to educate your soldiers. Your soldiers acu and equipment expenses should come out of their clothing allowance- if this allowance is not enough then it is your duty to go up the chain of command to figure out how to help these soldiers. You could have also spent this time looking up courses to teach your soldiers about budgets, family education and whatever complaints that you had. As a wife of a soldier I would like to tell you that my husbands leadership and our FRG has done an excellant job at educating about budgets. I would also like to let you know that even though my husband is in Iraq for the second time I am not here spending up all his money. So before you decide to post your complaints on yahoo stop and think is this something that you would want everyone in your chain of command knowing or would you rather that they know that you have established programs to support your soldiers.

I'm not disagreeing with anything you have said but I'd much rather you'd have kept this confined to a strictly military publication or base newsletter etc. Keep the "family" matters within the family if you know what I mean.

The reason is because our men leave and are gone on such long deployments that all they do with their wives when they come back is have sex.
And yeah, its unfair. Maybe the military should teach a sex ed class or make it apparent that its free to get a vasectomy.

Prolly, but since we expect them to die for us if need be, perhaps a more compassionate understanding of their problems is in order. All military personnel are underpaid especially the lower EM. Classes in budgeting would be helpful and more useful than just being down on them.
