I am in the same situation. I spoke with a lawyer , b/c my ex doesn't want to give up his right, but has had nothing to do with my 3 year old son..never even seen him. My lawyer said that I have to have someone else to step up to the plate and take the responsibility. I am now married and trying to save up enough money to pay for the lawyer to get this ball rolling, but I HIGHLY suggest a lawyer. Let someone else do all the dirty work. But, if the laws in Missouri are the same as California, you need to be married to another man wiling to be your childs father. Good Luck!!

Go speak to an attorney that specializes in family law. They will be able to tell you what you need to do.
I believe that he just has to sign a document stating that he has given up all parental rights to his child. Each state is different, but there is a period of time where he is allowed to change his mind. After that time passes, he has no legal claim or right to anything that has to do with being the father of your son.
If that is what he wishes to do, then fine. But ask him to write a letter of some sorts explaining his decision to your son. Your son will ask questions when he gets older, and has a right to know the answers. He could explain his decision, and tell him whether or not he would like his son to contact him when he is ready to. It would make things a little easier. If he is worried about you reading it, tell him to seal the envelope, and you will keep it stored until your son is of the age that he will understand things, and then you will give it to him to read.
Good luck with things, and I hope that all goes well for you and your son.

you're able to desire to hunt for suggestion from a relatives regulation expert to make constructive this is all completed legally. you will likely might desire to attend some form of mediation or relatives courtroom listening to. The organic and organic father has rights and it somewhat is going to be as much as him no count if he desires to relinquish those regardless of what he has reported.

go to family court and have some papers drawn up to have him legally come to court and say he doesn't want his son, You have to get the papers at your local city hall or courthouse, some times you can download them. The courts will serve him and ask him why he doesn't want to see or have anything to do with him! and has his chance to answer. It's takes a Little while to get done, but it's worth it to protect your son.
so go to the family courts and get the papers rolling, good luck

If you want him to give up rights, don't expect him to pay child support. You probably realize this but some women want the money and no father involvement. It's either both or neither.

That is such a final thing, but I know where you are coming from. you need good legal advice. If you cannot afford a lawyer, there may be some free legal aid in your area.
