A two-year-old doesn't need a big production.
An at-home party, if possible, is great. It's hot out, so you can turn on the sprinkler, if he likes that, and let a few of his buddies run wild. A pinata could be fun.
Or a party at a playground.
At his age, he doesn't really get what birthdays are all about, and he doesn't really know how to play with other kids, plus there's no status issues, so just enjoy it. Keep it small, and keep it simple, or he'll be overwhelmed.
That said, lots of zoos and Children's Museums will let you host parties there...

A wonderful place would be the local park. You can invite family and friends. Decorate a few picnic tables and bring just a cake and drinks. The kids can play on the playground. That's what I did when my son turned two. Just make sure that the park you go to has a toddler play area.

Something small at a local park. Or if you can rent a hall (like at a church or something). Keep it small though. I have used the fellowship hall at our church for the last few years for my son's parties. I take a load of his big trucks, legos, crayons/color books, and a few times we even bought a small blow up pool and filled it with balls for the kids to play in like a ball pit. I also go to appliance stores the week before the party and get a few fridge and microwave or wahser and dryer boxes. Cut a hole in it for a door and one for a window. That has been a big hit at the last 4 of my son's 5 parties. Lay a basket of crayons at the bottom of the boxes ans let the kids draw and play in them. Just serve ice cream and cake and maybe a few kinds of chips or something. Very little involved and very inexpensive
Good luck and happy birthday to your little one.

At a park where he can run around and play. That way he is not at home, grown ups can have fun also, the kids can play on the playground, and it is free.

I've attended some great children's parties at Gymboree. Especially great if you don't want to have to deal with set up, clean up, or having to "host" the party and entertain the guests.

Why not go to Cici's Pizza? The prices are great and you all like pizza, I'd go there. Good like finding a place.
