Yes, they did. And WE kicked your asses all the way back to Washington DC and burned down the White House and most of Washington. It was the war of 1812.

P.S. We'll do it again, if we need to.

P.P.S I see that the vast majority of your compatriots are as ignorant of history as you are. You really should attend our fine schools, eh.

Once as a real nation during the war of 1812 and once as a colony during the French Indian War. In the War of 1812, the outcome was the creation of the White House out of the destroyed Yellow House and a little bit more land as the Canadian/U.S. bountries were redrawn. The French Indian War has the British take Canada away from France.

Sadly there has been mention of ignorance by somebody who did not get their facts straight. During the war of 1812 American soldiers did invade Canadian soil, but Canada was still a British colony. Also, the war was started due to British abuses and their refusing to honor the Treaty of Paris, as well as British ships boarding American ships and pressing Americans into British work gangs. Basically to make a long story short the Americans got tired of being F*d with and retaliated. The war lasted from 1812-1814 and there were several times when American forces successfully took land in Canada but then were turned back, just as there were several times when British forces (mainly Canadians and Native Americans) successfully attacked and took American soil. When the war finally ended the original borders were reestablished.

Yes we did have war against Britan in the American war of 1812 in which Canada helped Britan.

The United States had grievances against Great Britain for sovereignty violations in three areas:

Britain's refusal to surrender western forts promised to the United States in the 1783 Treaty of Paris, which ended the American War of Independence, together with allegations that Britain was arming North American Indians fighting against Americans on the western frontier;
The boarding of American ships by the Royal Navy on the high seas to search for alleged deserters, and the forced impressment of American and naturalized American citizens as British seamen; and
The trade embargoes by France and Britain during the Napoleonic Wars, which resulted in the seizure of hundreds of American merchant ships.

The war was conducted in four theatres of operations:

The Atlantic Ocean
The Great Lakes and the Canadian frontier
The coast of the United States
The Southern States

Despite several notable successes by US frigates, the Royal Navy quickly gained the upper hand at sea; however, success on land seesawed back and forth between the Americans and the British and Canadian forces. The war ended with the Treaty of Ghent, restoring North America to the status quo antebellum.

Yes, I did copy all this. I know how the whole war went down but it was easier to copy. I get the feeling that you are Canadian and you want to have your little glory that Canada (with BIG help for UK) bet us. I dont see why you are bringing it up now. We are all allies and it would never happen again but if it did personally you wouldnt have a chance because you equipment would never stand up to what the American military has now days. The Canadian force is now considered a peace keeper force so when it comes to actually fighting I dont think its a complarison.

Well there was the war of 1812, but technically there was no such thing as Canada until 1867. Then there were the Fenian Raids which took place from 1866-1867, but the Fenians were terrorists who certainly did not represent the US goverment. However there were some in the US goverment who looked the other way when it came to Fenian activity as a form of retribution for the Empire's support of the Confederacy.

yup in 1812, it was called by the british "james madisons war" and by the Americans the second war of independce , the Americans lost badly and haven't had a chance to take over the land. if they were nice to the british candains the land would hav e eventually became us terretory cuz there wasn;t any offical gov. there and the brits were kinda taking it easy. but the americans were idiotic enough to be agrassive.

i have lots of juicy stuff some amazing and some stories very sad.

we all know that America has books and books of plans on ways to attack canada, and so does canada, so when in need it'll be quick.

BTW i am not American, and never been there:p

1775 and 1812. Both times, American forces were pushed out rather quickly by the BRITISH forces in Canada (note: not Canadian forces). In 1812, the BRITISH pushed all the way to Washington D.C., effectively kicking our butts for a time. I think we're OK now, though. I dare say we could take Canada and the UK at the same time with little effort these days. I think we should...

nothing major. Canada was a part of the war of 1812, but they were a British colony then, and it was England that was the main aggressor. There were some small border skirmishes before the 49th parallel was established as the western part of the border.,

Absolutely! The result was more or less a draw, since cessation of hostilities led to a continuation of antebellum status.

I did a book report on a book about the war of 1812 in US History.

Not that I can remember. Canada and the U.S. has always been partners in some way. Some people in Canada like us some don't but no war.
