i'm 16,5'1
Year i found out i was 12. The specialist said it wasn't that bad and i shouldn't have to see him any more.Only seen him 2-3 times to check up on it. Haven't worn a brace or had surgery.Well some things that come with having scoliosis is you have trouble breathing and back pains. I didn't have back pains before but now i do every once in a while. The breathing i had but wasn't sure if it was from something else or Scoliosis. Sometimes i have chest pains too...(not sure if that goes with it or not)If any one has had Scoliosis does this mean that it has progressed instead of gotten better or may be something else....

I am 41, and have had 7 spinal reconstruction surgeries. The first surgery was when i was 21 . I have Gross ,and marked deformity of the spine with scoliosis, secondary to nurofibromatosis, and kyphoscoliosis. My spine in the lumbar region is almost completely disintegrated.

Pain is a constant companion. Sometimes it is hard to breath, when the spinal muscles are spasming. You might want to have mom and dad send you to an spinal specialist, as well as a allergy doctor who can tell how well your lungs are working. Good luck sweetie, hope it works out for you.

Scoliosis is a common symptom associated with many different diseases. My brother has scoliosis, he also has chest pain and balance problems. For years doctors just said that nothing was wrong but he new something was wrong. I felt the balance problems to and also had chest pain. After research we found out we both have a neurological disease called Friedreich's Ataxia. Most people with Friedreich's ataxia develop scoliosis which, if severe, may impair breathing. Other symptoms that may occur include chest pain, shortness of breath, and heart palpitations.

I don't think it would cause problems with breathing unless it was curved enough to be compressing the rib and lung area which would not be a mild case. Go see the doctor to have it checked at least to rule it out if nothing else.

about the back pain avoid sleeping facing down, always facing up or side ways. as fas as the breathing is totally erelevant. If you are expeciencing chest pain and shortness of breath PLEASE schedule an appointment with your doctor.
I must disagree with ruthie. if your back is misaligned yes, chiro will fix that, but if it's a condition. it's not recommended. your spine is full of nerves that sometimes get compressed my any inflammation or mislignment of the vertebrae, however, if you have a condition, but your body somehow manage to accomodate, if you mislign it it will bring out other conditions.

Go to a chiropractor. If your scoliosis is mild like you say, a chiropractor can repair your spine and end your problems,
