As the years go by I'm invloved in more and more accidents, and I can't drive yet and they were all caused by someone other than the driver of the vehicle I was in. Is it just that auotmotive education is on a decline or is it just that more drivers are on the road with a surging population?

I think it's a combination of factors. There are more vehicles on the roads, a lot of vehicles are bigger than they used to be, and people are crankier and in a much bigger hurry than they used to be.

It's a combination of both. Teenagers are by fare the cause of numerous accidents. Mainly because of the fact they are new drivers and think they are indistructable. The main distraction for accidents for anyone is other people in the car, music being too loud, cell phone talking, fiddling with radio, CD, etc. Then you have the elderly. They drive either too slow or don't have the same reflexs to react in accident situation. People these days are more reckless with there driving. Everyone thinks they are the best drivers and are more likely to take risks when driving. It's not the education that's declining it's how seriously people take the education given to them.

All of the above, plus 3 other factors.

First the roads are much wider now and that contributes to higher speeds and more lanes to watch.

Second, small cars have given people the idea that they can zip into and out of traffic at will.

Third, the enormous size of suvs make even the 110 lb woman invincible. they adopt a move over attitude toward others.

I think both applies, there are a lot of more cars on the road today and unfortunatley some drivers just dont know all the rules of the road

it's the new technology cars come w/.
makes the drivers overconfident, thinking that they can go 100 on a dark, hilly, winding road and survive cuz they have many airbags and extra crush down front or w/e

Where I live in Ohio, it seems that everybody is trying to qualify for Nascar! They drive like maniacs...passing on double yellow lines, blind turns. It looks like everybody is in such a hurry that they are being careless and taking too many chances. I think I would rather be late for work, than dead!!!
