People have difficulty living with reality. So, they close their minds. By the way, evolution is fact, not a theory. Creation Science is not science at all. Creationism does not even reach the level of theory. It is mythology.

Some people (usually religious fundamentalists) think that evolution means that there is no God, which evolution says nothing about. As to "not being a monkey" we ARE primates - we are animals!!! We just happen to be the one with the biggest brain per body weight on the planet. The people that vehemently oppose the teaching of evolution usually don't even know what it really is. If you understand how DNA works, then you will know how evolution works. It must annoy the heck out of those that think otherwise that this is the way that "God" made the world, but they are only people - they don't tell God what to do, they only think that God is telling them that they are right when they aren't. Some of them are so convinced that they are right that they will never agree to the reality of the situation.

I think when people hate things passionately enough, and dedicate there lives to the destruction of it, it is because they themselves feel it may hold an inkling of truth that may send their beloved world crashing down. My thinking is that if evolution was as illogical as some claim it to be, why are these few people wasting such time and energy to disprove it? If I were to tell people the world was created by a giant pink aardvark, I’m sure most individuals would think me mad and avoid me, not argue with me. The same can be said about people who are vehemently anti-theist. I think this phenomenon has little to do with science and religion, and more to do with the self. With that in mind I don’t think most people hate evolution or religion, some just believe in one and not the other, or both or none. I think that the few that do hate are just louder then the majority without hate in their hearts, that's my two cents anyway.

I was raised to believe evolution is God's way of creating. He tried one thing, then added to it until he got what he wanted. It's slow for us, but who's to say what a day means to God? I think in revelations a biblical week is seven years, so how long is God's day? Heck maybe the seventh day isn't even over yet. Wait until Monday, we're all going to be screwed.

Incidentally, evolution is just a theory, and so is democracy. It's the best we got, but maybe something better will come along.

Evolution is against the teachings of God and the Bible. The Bible says that each species is to reproduce after its own kind. There are two different kinds of evolution, micro evolution, and macro evolution. Micro evolution gives variety in species. Take dogs for an example. Micro evolution produces big dogs, small dogs, dogs with short hair, dogs with long hair, brown dogs or white dogs In Macroevolution, you take two dogs, and get a cat. That has never happened, and never will.

Make no mistake, monkeys produce other monkeys. Each species after its kind. God made man in His image.

People hate evolution because they have not evolved. The people who speak against the theory of evolution have not read the literature on this and they don't want to. Their minds are like steel traps, unyielding and intransigent. It doesn't take much to see that the theory could well be true. You only have to know that all living things are related and that the DNA of primates is very similar to humans to know that those who have closed minds are incorrect.

One minor point: You and I were never "monkeys". We've always been people.

Having said that, I for one think evolution is a beautiful thing. Adapting to live well in this big wild crazy world--is nothing but a good thing.

Because it is the THEORY of evolution. Theory means it has not been proved or cannot be proved. Anyone who believes it is fact simply doesn't have a grasp of waht a theory is.

People say it takes millions of years for evolution to take place. Millions of years for an animal to change from one form to another. Tell that to tadpoles and caterpillars.

There is nothing to hate. Evolution was a THEORY that now has much scientific evidence against it.

I merely feel sorry for the many people (scientists included) who are misled by it's falsehoods.

I don't think age is the contributing fact to the belief or lack there of when it comes to evolution. I think education and rational thinking is what allows people to believe in evolution. Young people who are analytical thinkers far from hate evolution.
