The retina is the sensory membrane of the eye that receives the image formed by the lens. The pigment is the color. The epithelial is membranous celluar tissue which secretes and protects excretions (in this case for the eye). Macula is an anatomical structure in the form of a spot different form surrounding tissue. So in short, there is an abnormal spot on the eye.

sounds like something to do with the right eye. Color cells from the retina are getting in to the macula?

I think it has to do with Macular Degeneration which is a common cause of blindness in people over age 60, but it is something they are getting better and better treatments for now.
