My sister's cat had kittens on her bed this morning. They had made a bed for her in their room next to the bed, but she doesn't want to use that. Everytime they put Mama Kitty in her bed on the floor with the kitties, she carries them back onto the bed. They have a small house. No extra room to keep her locked in. Doesn't want to put her in the living room in her bed because she isn't sure that Mama Kitty won't move them and is afraid someone might step on them if it's at night (she has kids). We thought of a crate, however, it's too late to go buy one and my sister is worried that if Mama Kitty doesn't have access to her litter box, she'll go in the crate by her kitties. Any ideas?

Mama kitty will also eat the poo to eliminate any odors that could invite predators. You need to put them in a quiet spot (try a closet) in a comfortable area. If they like the blanket on the bed, use that in the closet and put a different one on the bed. This way, they're in a private area, which most cats prefer when they have a litter, and they won't get trampled. Plus, your sister has her bed back. Mama kitty will know how to take care of her kittens; all your sis has to do is make sure she has plenty of food and water in her usual spot. Don't bother the mama too much or she could end up taking the kitties out and hiding them somewhere.

The cat feels more secure in your sister's bedroom. Why? Because sister is "momma" so to speak. The one the cat feels most comfortable with.
She's insisting on the bed due to the padding and it being comfortable. She might also like the heigh, but that will be dangerous to the babies.
This is what I did. I took a box, with a lid (or taped the top closed), then cut out a hole in the side. Big enough that I could see in, I squared it out, then I put in an old sheet. The momma found that comfotable and the babies were safe.
The cat also chose your sister's bedroom because that's where she feels the safest. Leave them there, make the box, and later one once the kittens are moving about maybe try to move them or at least make a small gate to surround the box with. I made one by tapping flat parts of a box and making a fense. Kept the babies in and let mom get in and out easily.
I also put food and water near the box for the first week for the momma.

It's probably that the cat feels safe being near your sister and the smell of the blanket is comforting. Try lining a box with the blanket and putting it in a confined area that is quiet. Mama kitties like to be in closed quiet areas like closets with thier litters. Try that and hopefully it will help. If your sister is not willing to give up the blanket try a sweatshirt turned inside out. Have your sister rub it on her neck before putting it in so it will smell like her.

the cat wants to be near your sister!
to very simply solve the problem use a dirty shirt or dress of your sisters to line the cat bed with and then place the kittens there and mama cat will find it much more close to home. she will be able to smell your sister in "her" bed and might not feel the need to move back to your sisters bed. ( have your sister sit beside the cat bed and pamper the new mama and tell her that this is where she needs to stay that if she wants her she just has to meow) cats are people too! talk to them as a person and you'll find that most of the time they understand you. when they seem not to my opinion is they just don't care what you said. after all cats are very "me" oriented.

Can you take the sheets off of the bed and put them somewhere where they won't be harmed? I am thinking she likes the bed maybe because of the smell that keeps her coming back onto it. I would think that she likes the fact that it is her smell on it, and nothing else.
I would try to get all the sheets off the bed, put it in an area in the room or something, and let her, and her kittens, enjoy the sheets with her smell on it, in another area.
Try doing that and see what happens. Oh, and flip the mattress over and spray it with Fabreeze to get that odor out so that the only smell she would have is that of the sheets.

Maybe it's your sisters blanket that the cat likes. Have you tried maybe setting that on the floor to see if the mama will stay on it down there? How about locking her in their bathroom, even maybe in the bathtub? Not with the water running either, I didn't mean that.
Then as soon as these kittens are weaned I suggest taking the momma in and getting her spayed ASAP so that she won't have to worry about it again.
