Believe in yourself. Whatever you choose to be true that will give you the best enlightenment, consider it true. Honestly, I do not believe in any of these religions. I just believe that the truth is where you can find yourself in tune with all that is good, blissful and tranquil. Search your heart, one of them is a road you can take. All going towards the same direction. Some roads are winding, some are straight, some have many crossroads but it is still the same destination you will reach. There is no hell, there are only trials in every road you take. Just always consider doing what is good and you will never get lost.

You've seemed to have gotten quite a variety of answers here. I have to agree with one answer I've read from several different people and that most religions have a basic grasp of the truth. I am a firm believer in all christian religions but for me one particular religion has proved to be a little more true than others. This would be the church of Jesus Christ of latter day saints. That's right the Mormon religion. A lot of other religions condemn this belief but you will never hear the Mormon religion discredit any. If you honestly investigate it and pray with a open heart I'm quite confident you'll find the answer to your question. Good luck.

Why do you feel that you need to belong to a particular religion? Just live your life according to what you know is right and the way your heart leads. I didn't "join" the pagan religion, though isn't really a religion anyway, but that is more or less where I fit in my beliefs. Even among the pagan people few feel they belong to a certain religion within it. That's why more refer to their paths as spiritual rather than religious.
If you feel the need to become something in particular, look at how you feel and then see if on of the existing dogmas fit. If you're no sure how you feel, go to alot of different churches, temples, etc., talk to different kinds of people and read about as many as you can. Eventually something will resonate inside you. Don't rush and good searching.

You are asking the right question.

You must search inward for what your conscience suggests. Almost every culture in the world had belief in one God or another. That should make it clear that we subconsciously know there is a supreme being. Read the bible, read the koran, read whatever you wish.

Then, (here's what helps me) go outside on a clear night and look upward. Talk to God and tell him you want to know what to do. Sit quiet and contemplate the beauty of the night sky while you wait for an answer. It will come. Don't hurry it, don't force it just let it come to you naturally.

Think of the millions of stars that are billions of miles away.

Try to grasp how HUGE the universe is. Open your mind to the vastness of space.

God is Love. It doesnt matter what religion you are. If you Love God and you feel that presence in your heart and it makes you want to be a better person/ gives you direction, then you're on the right track. My guess is youll just have to study the different religions and whatever feels most natural to you should be the one you choose! Good luck! Dont give up!

Your right there are a lot of religions. The first thing you have to decide for yourself is whether you believe in God or not.

As you look into religions, you find that most all of the religions have one thing in common. They all give you the idea that getting into heaven is about your deeds. Christianity is different, God proved to us that we could not get to heaven on our own (old testament/the law). That is why he sent Jesus; Jesus came to earth to live a perfect life without sin and to be sacrificed on the cross for all man-kinds sins. Through Jesus, we have salvation and not because of our works.

Due your research, God will lead you.

Truth is relative. Every religion claims for the truth.

Christian needs to have a story of God so loved the world He sacrifices His only son. It is to emphasize its message of love, and the crucificion is seen as the highest display of love.

Moslems, on the other hand, believe that to forgive mankind, God does not need to sacrifice anyone. This is to emphasize their message of forgiveness, and justice.

Hindus and Buddhists have invented the 'truth' about reincarnation to emphasize their belief in Karma.

But all these 'truth' point at one: that there is a God, and people all ages with their different opinions have believed in the existance of God.

I am baptist. I would tell you to be baptist, but that would be unfair to you.
you have the right to choose.
Believe in whichever one you feel is right,
If you hear about a religion that you just feel is absolutely wrong, then that is fine,
Ok, you can believe in God and just call yourself a children of God,
so if someone asks you what religion you are, you can just tell them that you arent' any religion, you are just one of God's children.
Do you believe God died for you and will come again for you some day?
if so, then you are one of God's children.

I could tell you, but will you listen?
Jesus Christ is the only one that came to earth to die for your sins. No one else on earth can make that claim. All other religions are humanist in form. You don't have to take my word for it. Read the Bible or do your own research. Pray about it. Say a prayer by yourself honestly and let God answer it.
