Apparently the Hasidic Jews, unlike most orthodox and less observant Jewish sects, shun most secular education, thus the professions commonly found among the wider Jewish population are far less common within the Hasidic sects. Most end up being merchants or craftsmen as these are professions that can support a family without a college education.

This is a big problem for them as they believe in big families and no birth control as well, so many families are living off welfare. Quite different from the orthodox Jews who combine traditional observancy with a value for both a religious and a secular education, or mainstream Jews who run the full gamut both educationally and professionally, the same as most other religions.
