Would you demand that such a person prove it by healing someone or by walking across a swimming pool? What if they merely demanded you believe faithfully?

How would you really know in this age where the mass media can manipulate and bend reality?

What if the person who claimed to be the reincarnation of Jesus was not physically attractive. What if he was not white, but Asian or Arab? Would you find it difficult to listen to someone who didn't fit your preconceived notions on what Jesus should look like?

The Bible teaches that it will be a magnificent event (read 1 Thessalonians 5:13-18). The apostle Peter wrote that it is something that every faithful child of God should look forward to (2 Peter 3:12-13).

Many people teach that there are certain signs that Christians should look for in order to know when Jesus will come again. Based upon what they thought were "signs," some throughout history have even predicted the exact time of when Jesus would return, but all of these men failed in their predictions. The Bible teaches that no one knows when Jesus will return, except God the Father (Matthew 24:36). When Jesus was on Earth, even He did not know; nor did His apostles. The truth is, Jesus’ Second Coming will be unexpected. The Bible says that the day Jesus returns will be "as a thief in the night" (2 Peter 3:10). Contrary to what many people think, the "signs" Jesus mentioned in Matthew 24:1-35 were in reference to the destruction of Jerusalem, and not to the Second Coming of Jesus.

Instead of looking for signs of Jesus’ return, the Bible says that we need to be more interested in living righteously all the time in order to "be ready" for His return.

Robert D. First of all, Christians aren't cultist. When Christ returns, all the Christians in graves will be taken up, then those still living will meet Christ in the clouds. So Robert D., when you wake up one morning, and hear that millions of people have disappeared, and you're left behind, just scratch your head and say, what happened. Then open one of your science books for an answer.

[I don't expect you to read and honestly consider this answer but I'm putting it here for others, just in case. And to get the 2 points!]. I think it's important to consider whether one's dynamics are the same ones as the group that one is attacking. A fundamentalist is a fundamentalist; Karen Armstrong (intellectual, liberal spiritual writer) identifes 'secular fundamentalists' as well as religious fundamentalists. I see a demonization of the opposition and the desire to promote one's own ego/identity to be dominant in both. One would do well to realize that there are many different kinds of Christians - many who treat the bible symbolically. Just read 'Belonging to the Universe' or even 'Father Joe' and one sees a compassionate, almost Buddhist-like perspective on Christianity.

Why do you refer to Christians as "cultists"?
The Oxford American dictionary defines a cult as "a relatively small group of people having religious beliefs or practices regarded by others as strange or sinister"
Do you think of the Christian community as a "relatively small group of people"? Because if so, you are in for a rude awakening. The majority of Americans claim Christianity as their religion. So you atheists are in the minority. Perhaps that worries you?

The mass media CAN bend reality, which is why your mind is so twisted. Been watching a lot of government television lately? Nah, you seem more like the MTV type.

um, good question.
Lets just say that if you are a christian, you will just know.
it will be obvious who the antichrist is because he proclaim to bring peace to the world. Jesus will not do that.
Basically, the stars and moon will fall from the sky and every man, christian and non will bow on his knees.
It sounds impossible, but that is what will happen and if you dont believe me now, you obviously will when it happens.

Find out Mary before you find out Jesus. Love this planet before you dream of heavens hidden in the black holes.God is every where and Knows every thing. Drop your religious identity to identify with a God who is all pervading.

If you do study the bible... or just for that matter... a Christian, this would be a very easy question to answer.

The 2nd coming, unlike the 1st ( which was to rescue mankind ), is to "judge the living and the dead."

Basically, it means the end of humanity on earth... reunion with god in his kingdom.

I think everyone would know when that day comes =)

The Bible states that Jesus will come down from the heavens. He will come down from the sky, with trumpets and angels. So I am sure there will be no mistaking Him. Anyone else is the antichrist and should not be believed.
