I was in the LAPD website...http://www.joinlapd.com/military.html

I would like to know if military experience will help only if you were a cop in the military?

Or will it help as long as i was in the military?
Because it has some cool benefits for ex military personnel. So does anyone know?

According to the website: anyone in the military during the periods of times listed. The site doesn't mention any job, so any job as long as you are/were on active duty. It also doesn't require that you were actually in the combat zone, just on active duty during the conflicts.

Alot of agencies like to have former military in their ranks because we in the military are taught to be disciplined and responsible. That makes military very attractive in this slap happy world of law suits against the police.

the credit you get for being in the military is for what veterans consider to be the basics. YOu know, drill, discipline, determination, and teamwork. In the military you did all this and that is what agencies want from their cops. That is what helps out. The marksmanship is only useful after your in and want to go to special units such as SWAT or SRT.

I think it probly applies to all military personnel because they were already taught many things, and are physically fit and trained in marksmanship.
