I woke two days ago with a hard red bump on the upper portion on my inner left thigh. At first I thought it was a spider bite but it didn't itch. So I thought it may be a boil. (The last time I had a boil I was about 12 - and I'm 44 now).

So I thought I'd 'sit and wait' to see what it did. Well it's still very painful. It has never been itchy. BUT it is raised, hard, red on the outside and a dark purple in the middle. No puss has begun to form. I have soaked in a hot bath and have bought everything to 'bring out' the boil...if it is a boil.

I am most concerned with the dark center. In everything I have seen and read about boils I have not seen anything that mentions a dark center. The information on spider bites isn't very helpful either.

I don't have insurance so running to a doctor will only be as a last resort. It is starting to worry me.

Any help will be appreciated.

I did check for spider 'bite marks' but only saw one 'hole' (Which was why I was leaning towards a boil).

It has now 'popped' like a blister. Still no pus is present but there is blood. I am looking into any free clinics in my area because it's starting to freak me out.

Well I just spent 5 hours in the emergency room. I had been bitten by a brown recluse. My leg had to be lanced open, irrigated and packed with gauze. I have been given antibotics and pain medicine and have to go back in two days. My leg had been bleeding for two days but when the doctor at the clinic saw it he immediately told me to go to the emergency room. I will never procrastinate again! Thank you everyone.

Spider bite. Hands down. See a doctor for medicine that will make it heal up.

I think it might be a spider bite. Did you feel hung over that morning even though you didn't drink? Spider poison from a big bite will make you feel like that. Go to Walgreens or somewhere and get one of those ultra-sonic spider and bug repeller. Unless you have a pet rodent, mouse, hamster, gerbil, rat because it will drive them insane. Usually helps reduce the spiders, etc pretty well. If it does not go down you will have to go to the doc. Be sure to put some kind of antibiotic creme on it to keep it from getting infected.

undesirable toddler. want i ought to kiss your boo-boos and cause them to nicely. My grandson is a skater so skaters have a definite place in my coronary heart. meanwhile you do have a good plan. Antibiotic cream for some day and the medical expert no count if this isn't any longer nicely quickly. I doubt you have a spider bite as spider bites tend to ooze quite than form puss. consistent with danger you reopened component of the previous shrink and it have been given contaminated.

I get boils from time to time (every couple months or so), and it sounds like the ones I get, when they're really bad. Even the dark center sounds like them. Give it another two to three days. If it spreads, darkens, or gets worse in any way, it may be a spider bite.
There is some stuff you may be able to get at the supermarket though (if you haven't already), called Boileaze (I'm not sure if that's the right spelling), but if it is a boil, it'll help to get rid of it.
If it continues to get worse, I think you'll have no choice but to go to a doctor. I'm very sorry. I feel for you...if it is a boil, I HATE those things.
