I am a 3rd generation Irish American. Unfornatly my grand parents died when my mother was very young, as did her own mother. We lost most of our knolege about the Irish culture when they pasted.
I am planning to have an Irish themed wedding, but real need help with some ideas. We are looking into the family coat of arms, and using the color in them as the wedding colors,or the flag colors, the green and white anyway, not the orange.

www.askginka.com is a great starting place.

The Corrs, Celtic Woman, Enya are good for music ideas.

Have your bridesmaids wear a flattering shade of green dresses.

Brides in the British Isles are said to carry a horseshoe to ensure good luck.

Perhaps have an Irish themed menu with corned beef and cabbage if you wish to serve a full meal. Maybe have your cake done with a Bailey's mousse filling or in a creme de menthe flavor.

I would hire a bag pipe player, and my center pieces for the tables would be an irish bouquet or a dark green candle with a irish candle ring. I would make my wedding favors something that had a four-leaf clover on it, such as a small white gift box of candy with a four-leaf clover sticker on the top.

i was going to have an irish themed wedding but i couldnt find the right shade of green for the dresses, but if you can find one that will do it we had someone that was going to make a shamrock cake a big one on the bottom then tier them with waterfalls in the middle you add "pots o gold" into your favors or centerpieces especially with the holidays coming up all the candy companys package in gold also just surf its time consuming but you can take ideas from here and put them with this and it will all fall into place.

Fidlers. . .fidlers, and more fidlers

My friend had an irish themed wedding. . .even had the reception in a pub!! And the fidlers were amazing!!!

Forget the coat of arms. . .your family already has!

Just do some cool music food and drink to make your guests have a good time!

Oh, and some friggin' FIDLERS~!~

Sounds weird to me, however I think you should hold it on St Patrick's Day, all dress as leprechauns, dance to the fiddle and drink Guiness at the toast. How can you consider using the flag colours but choose to omit the orange - doesn't make sense to me.

you can use the green and white for ribbons to decorate the pews and also use them for the coulour theme of your table settings. don't forget your cabbage and corned beef. have plenty of guinness at the receiption and a few irish dancers mixed in with the entertainment.

one element that i extremely observed in eire that became so diverse from everywhere else became the song. they could attempt to get some Irish musicians in to play, a minimum of for a lengthy time period, because it extremely became what made my holiday there (properly, Guinness became slightly section too, lol).

This is TOO easy.
Just have everyone get really drunk and pick a fight - that`s your Irish Themed wedding right there.
