With the new TV technologies the best depends on what your situation: who (will be watching it), what (you will be watching/the room looks like), where (you will be putting it/where you will sit). Clearly everyone that posts in the forum is a TVs expert. The light source in both plasma and lcd is designed to last 60,000 hours (roughly 8hrs/day for 20 years). What this means with plasma is that the gases hold their brightness for that period of time. Plasma produces a smoother more vivid image/colors then lcd. The best TV on the market right now is the Sony XBR CRT TUBE! Next best (price not important) is Pioneer Elite 1080P and Fujitsu plasma, yes they use more power, but price doesn't matter. LCD is a good technology but put one next to an Elite or a Fujitsu and tell me what looks better. Best bet for you is to go somewhere and talk to a knowledgeable sales person about the product...avoid Best Buy and Circuit City those sales people are worth a damn...if you can find a Magnolia Home Theater or HiFi Buys/Tweeter check them out.

DLP. No burnin if you play videogames. If you buy a small TV, then LCD. Stay away from plasma TVs. Too much noise and heat.

plasma and lcd have the same picture, so take you pick, if you get a big screen lcd, a tv like 30 inches , a plasma like the sony bravia is good.
