Yes. The ring is a symbol of commitment within the relationship. Hopefully it was presented to you when he purposed to you. A very resounding hell yes if the ring he presented to you when he asked you to marry you was a family ring, mother's, grandmothers etc.
Bout the only way you could actually keep the ring is if you and him discuss the matter.

Yes. If you got married then you should keep the ring if the marriage ended, but since you broke the engagement, the ring represents a promise you didn't keep so it should go back to him.

Yeah-I have seen people brought to court just because they wouldn't give the ring back. It was a present if u married them, but if u aren't then I suggest giving it back.
If u sell it-he might bring you to court for selling it and want the money back for it. So save yourself the trouble, be nice and give it back. Then, your conscience won't keep bothering you-and he gets his ring back. Everybody is happy. :-)

Generally, if you break it off, you give back the ring. If he breaks it off, you keep the ring. If you both break it off, then you should offer to return the ring and if he says keep it, then do.

Under most circumstances the woman should return the ring.
If he cheated or broke the engagement you should keep it, unless it was his family's heirloom, in which case, you need to return it anyways.

That would depend on why you broke it off. Was it because you were fooling around ? If that is the case then yes you should give it back. But if it was him then no you keep it.

If he broke it off, you have a right to keep it.
If you broke it off, you have NO right to keep it.
If both of you broke it off, you probably have a right to keep it, but it's very bad form. At least OFFER to give it back. . .it's the adult thing to do.
